In & Out Scarf by Sílvia Silva

In & Out was born out of self-daring. I wanted something hippie, trendy and bold. In other words,
something that had nothing to do with me.
The hollows give it freshness and lightness and the strong colors give it personality.
The scarf is knitted lengthwise. The Fringe tips are worked as an extension of the scarf. The hollows
are achieved through bind offs in one row and cast on stitches on the next row. Worked in one piece,
the scarf is reversible and it can be easily adapted to any width or length by changing the number of
repeats.

The pattern is written for 12 inches/30 cm in width and 59 inches/150 cm in length.

GAUGE
18 sts/40 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch
Note: Correct gauge is not critical for this project.

PATTERN NOTES
The US #10/6mm needle will be used only in the last row for a stretchy bind off.

To increase the length of the scarf, add multiples of 22. To increase in width, repeat section 1 and 2.

After you bind off 11 sts - ex.: row 5 of set up section - there is one st in your needle and you only need
to work 10 more sts to make 11. You will end up with groups of 11 sts plus the fringing tips sts at the
ends.

Use the backwards loop cast-on method also known as single cast on to get a really stretchy cast on.

The measurements in length don’t include the fringes.
