USA Sugar Mill Main Drive Split

Spherical roller Bearing Solution
Actual Solution ACB.USA Proposal
Special Housing with Custom made housing with
bronze sliding bearing split spherical roller bearing
ACB.USA Proposal technical advantages

1- Housing 100% interchangeable with the

existing one, no modification needed.
2 - Split spherical roller bearing,
dimensionally interchangeable with the
standard solid spherical roller bearings.
3 - Higher aligning capabilities
4 - Lower power consumption.
5 - Better running precision (the line of
contact between each gear pair stayed the
same for the live of the bearings)
6 - Low maintenance cost
7 - Low lubricants consumption, once a year
one grease charge
8 – enormous theoretical bearing live
9 – No shaft modification needed
10 – Special split taconite seal design

Special split taconite seal design
This ACB special high performance seal
features three seals in one retainer. Used
in dusty, abrasive, and moist
environments, this seal has unique
characteristics that prevent contaminants
from entering the assembly
Grease specification Mobil XHP 460

Kappa > 3
* Excellent extreme-pressure protection and load-carrying ability for equipment
protection under heavy and shock loading
* Excellent high temperature oil bleed control
* An advanced polymer additive package which resists water washout
* Ability to absorb free water, without losing thickener consistency

Installation of CMS, in addition to, daily monitoring

from ABS throughout the season for preventive
maintenance and detection of any anomalies

• Vibration CMS ( Condition Monitoring System )

• Low frequency and low noise axial accelerometer
• 2 radial accelerometers per bearing
• Threaded fix to pillow block requires no drilling
• Data is sent through a 3G signal
Previous Requirements
• 2 bearings
• Radial loads
• Nominal speed: 25 rpm
• Season: 3 months
• Remote access
• 3G data transfer

Benefits
• Data on bearing behavior can be accessed from anywhere over the internet
• Detection of possible anomalies throughout the season before any major damage
occurs
• Alarms can be set on known failure points

*Temperature sensors are not included but are recommended and easy to add to the CMS

Strain Gauge Analysis

Benefits
• Allows us to know the actual loads over the
bearings during use as opposed to a
theoretical calculation .
• Shows any possible bending and twisting of
the shaft.
• More accurate bearing life prediction.

Strain Gauge Installation
• Shear Strain ‐ Used to determine torque
values.
• Axial Strain – Used to determine the bending
characteristic of the shaft.

Initial values in ɛ: Torque 1= 17.74µɛ
Torque 2= 10.80µɛ
Bending 1= 3.76µɛ
Bending 2=‐6.50µɛ

•Shear values are then converted to obtain actual torque and bending values
