Week 2 Reflection

This past week taught me that there are set categories that help us become better nurses and
healthcare professionals. By using the metaparadigm, I learned there are four concepts that
design the discipline: Nursing, Person, Health, and Environment. The nursing process involves
observation, assessment, intuition, communication and evaluation in order to have a polished
nursing process. We are obligated to use our inner knowing and gut feelings to help our patients
have the best care possible. This requires perseverance, commitment, critical thinking, and an
ongoing willingness to stay on top of current healthcare trends, policy changes, technologies, and
always have a positive attitude about learning new things. By staying on top of our goals and
patient goals, we can use and implement King's Theory to stay on task with common goals. This
theory provides the framework for the proper action to take to reach those goals, involving the
patient the entire time.
