Activity 4. I Can Do It , Right?

Story time!

John Carlo is a Grade 7 student he belongs to a very poor family. His
father is a part time carpenter and his mother is a plain housewife
and often times his mother accepts a laundry to his neighbor for her
to make an extra income to buy food. The income of his father in
carpentry is not sufficient to sustain their daily basic needs.

Because of this situation, John Carlo decided to apply a part time job
in the neighborhood in order to help his family and to support his
financial needs for his studies.

Processing Questions:

1. If you were John Carlo in real life will you do the same decision?
2. Does the decision of John Carlo may help him to finish schooling?
Why or why not ?
3. Do you have such experience like this?

Activity 5. Keep in Mind


Instruction: Read and understand the real life story of Henry Sy.

Poverty is not hindrance towards success! Many of the


successful individual come from a very poor family like Henry Sy the
business tycoon owner of SM. He started his life as street shoe repair
this is his source of living. He experience being bullied by the society
where he situated of being poor. One of them who bully him is the
Mercury Drug Store owner who prohibit him to establish his shoe
repair stall beside Mercury Drug because according to owner of the
Mercury Drug store his stall will be an eyesore of their customers.
This experience gives so much depression to Henry Sy, but he never
give up in spite of horror of his life.

He struggle to hard in order to win the fight of his everyday life.


Years later he established his Shoe Store until he successfully build
his SM department store nationwide. And to this present no Mercury
Drug Store is permitted to put and establish or given place to SM
since they are one of the perpetrators who discriminate the
owner of SM.
We must always remember that life is a constant change.
We struggle, we fight, we lost sometimes but this is not the end
of our life. This is just a test to challenge us how strong we are to
face the reality and some circumstances beyond control.
Everyone has its own responsibility some are easy, some
are hard and doubtful. It is not how easy or hard it is, what
matters is that is how we perform that responsibility given to us
with an open heart.

Being a responsible student he/she must possess the following
qualities such as:
1. Pagsasarili – means you are self-reliant. You count only on
your own efforts, and succeed mainly by doing a good job and
relying principally on your own merit and work.
2. Lakas ng Loob – means you takes risk. You rise to a challenge,
and bring into play a unique dynamism that is often spent in
converting problems into opportunities.
3. Sipag and Tiyaga – this is your badge of security. Means you
are obsessed with the distinctive advantage by the quality of
your work. The reason of your industriousness is a strong of
pride in workmanship of your product.
4. Pagpapakumbaba – means you are humble and single
mindedness of purposes where there’s a chance to earn, no
matter how lowly the task you will work patiently. For you rolling
your sleeves, getting your hands dirty is nothing to be ashamed
of.
5. Pagkamatulungin – means you learn how to work with others from
different fields, and your conscious that with their help, effectiveness
can be multiplied.
6. Mapagtuklas – means you are basically creative, with a sense of
perseverance and a spirit of initiative. You never satisfied with things
as they are, you continue to improve and trying new and better ways
of doing things.
7. Saya – means your joy lies in the satisfaction of your costumer,
whom you put first over everybody else. You are service oriented, you
are happy man for you discovered that the joy of giving has its own
rewards.

V. Reflection
Instruction: Write your answer in your HG activity notebook.

makes your life challenging. Explain and cite some example
how this responsibility encourage you in doing the task given
to you.
