DISCUSSION

There are many kinds of figure of speech contained in the lyrics of the Mic Drop song. Judging
from the Mic Drop lyrics performed by BTS, this song is dedicated to BTS haters. This song
satirizes haters who once pouted and doubted BTS's ability to achieve success both in South
Korea and on a global scale. The beginning of the song was opened by J-Hope who did not
accept that he was labeled as a dirt spoon. This spoonful expression is inspired by the state of the
economy in South Korea which is divided byspoon class theory, including gold, silver, bronze,
plastic, and land according to the amount of income. If you were born out of wealth, then you
would be put in the gold, silver, or bronze spoon category. Meanwhile, if you are born in an
ordinary family, you are called a plastic spoon. The last category is the earthen spoon that is
pinned to the needy family. This song was preceded by a rap from J-hope about people who like
to compare the backgrounds or family backgrounds of the artists. "Who says my spoon is dirty
(doesn't have a good background), I never care, even when I lift the mic, I beat those who have a
golden spoon". These lyrics contain the figure of Personification or Confession. There are "my
dirty spoons" and "golden spoons" which attach human qualities to inanimate objects. Here J-
hope can eliminate discrimination about this background, because Bts who are born with an
ordinary life background can beat people who are born in a good background / rich family. "And
I went berserk, there were lots of unripe steaks, I bit them many times at the stars dinners." This
lyrics contains the figure of Personification or Incarnation found in "immature steak" which
attaches human qualities to inanimate objects and abstract ideas and also contains sarcasm in the
"dinner of the stars" which contains spicy and painful satire heart. "The stars" is also a
metaphorical figure that is a parable for their rivals. This figure of speech is a figure of speech
that uses an analogy or parable against two different things. From the lyrics above, according to
J-Hope in the artistic world, especially KPOP, even though their background is good, many of
their careers and talents are still immature, so BTS can beat their rivals. As usual, Suga always
chants about his mental problems such as the thought that he will fail, but in the end BTS reaches
a very high peak of success. So that Suga can become the pride of his parents who is inversely
proportional to the Haters. "Forgive your child who is the most successful mother, fulfilling a
filial duty which you (haters) do not do". In this lyrics there is a Hyperbolic figure of "most
successful". A type of language style that contains statements that are intentionally exaggerated,
both in terms of number, size and character, with the intention of enhancing or increasing their
impression and influence. The lyrics also contain sarcasm in the words "filial duties that you
(haters) do not do". An insinuation for their haters. Then Suga said that his concert tickets were
completely sold out in the lyrics that he sang “Our concerts never leave empty seats. I did, your
basic is bland ratatouille. This lyrics contains the figure of Personification or Incarnation found
in "bland ratatouille" which attaches human qualities to lifeless items and abstract ideas. Suga
said that haters are like a food called ratatouille, but the taste is bland. If you feel jealous and you
are in pain, please proceed to court (law suit). sue me.

V trying to show off their innumerable and award-winning achievements. in the lyrics sung
"Look at my bag, there are many trophies and my bag is very large". Jungkook emphasized the
myriad of achievements that BTS has achieved. "I also got another trophy, I can't even count
them because there are too many". The lyrics also contain the Hyperbolic figure, namely "I can't
even count them because there are too many" which contain statements that are deliberately
exaggerated, both in terms of their number, size and character, with the intention of enhancing or
increasing their impression and influence. . "Please someone stop me now because I'm going to
explode ”.These lyrics contain the Hyperbolic phrase "I'll explode" which is an exaggeration and
absurd expression. Of course this does not mean literally, but as a metaphor that Jimin said BTS
will be more successful. "My dear watch your mouth, back to when we were still learning to fly".
This lyrics contains the Euphemistic figure found in "My dear guard your mouth" which uses a
more subtle expression for expressions that are deemed harsh or harmful. In addition, there is
also a Hyperbolic figure in “flying” which is an exaggerated and absurd expression. RM brought
haters back to a time when BTS was having a hard time at the beginning of their career, or
during their process of pioneering success. "Look at your glass, with the same clothes, you know
what I feel, I feel happy". This lyric contains the sarcasm of the words "Look at your glass, with
the same clothes" which contains a sarcastic and hurtful insinuation. In this stanza, RM seems to
say that, haters must reflect back on themselves, because haters' lives are boring and live an
ordinary routine, while BTS is happy with what they are doing. In addition, there are also figures
of Personification or Incarnation found in "clothes" which attach human characteristics to
inanimate objects and abstract ideas. RM continued with the lyrics, "How long have we been
flying ?, I kept dreaming above the clouds, yes I was in the mountains, yes I was in the bay,
every day we vibrated". This lyric contains a Hyperbolic figure in “flying” which is an
exaggerated and absurd expression. The lyrics above seem to tell the myriad of experiences of
BTS holding concerts around the world. Jimin added, "Look at you ending up like that, So fizzy,
we were like cola". This lyrics contains the sarcasm of the language contained in the sentence
"Look at you ending like that" which contains a sarcasm and hurtful feelings. This sounds like
the end of the haters who have been shaken by this Mic Drop song. This lyric also contains the
figure of Personification or Incarnation found in "we are like cola" which attaches human
qualities to inanimate objects and abstract ideas. Your corneas will be shocked when you see us,
which are very stylish. This lyric contains the figure of personification or incarnation found in
the "cornea of your eye" which attaches human qualities to inanimate objects and abstract ideas.
