A.Background
Komm Susser Tod or in english translated
as come, sweet death is a song who was sung
by Arianne Schreiber, is the South African-born
British singer and was composed by shiro sagisu
a japanese music composer. This song was also
based on a german title song komm susser tod
komm selge ruh. This song was originally used
in movie titled The end of Evangelion on 1997
and the song was played at the end of the
movie. At the time of this song production the
singer, Arianne was introduced by song writters
Rob Davis. Arianne was in Japan for three days
to do recording on Komm Süsser Tod and
another song Everything You've Ever
Dreamed.Shiro sagisu who responsible to
composed this song is a Japanese person and
known for his talent in making song for famous
movies, anime, and games. This song actually
was from german titled song Komm susser Tod
komm selge ruh and has been changed and
modified by another composer years by years. In
the movie The end of Evangelion it self, this
song was played during at the final scene and it
only played on directors cut, the full song was
released around year 2012 along with another
song used in the movie.
B.Paraphrase
The song has meaning in the reff and it
contains love, guilt and yearning to the heroine
or the female main character.
“I wish that I could turn back time.” In the first
lyrics explains that the main character wish to
turn back time and come back to the past.
“Cause now the guilt is all mine.” The main
character feel everything that happening to the
female main character is his faults and he feels
so gulity that everyhing happened.
“Cant live without the trust from those you love.”
The main character did not trust anyone except
for the female man character.
“I know we cant forget the past.” The min
character remembers all of the everything he
has done and cannot change it.
“You cant forget love and pride.” The main
character cannot forget loves given by the
female character and pride he has before.
“Because of that, its killing me inside.” Because
the main character cannot forget all the love,
pride the female character gave, it became a
poison to himself, He cannot forget everything
even when it is time he moves on.
C. Moral message
Shiro Sagisu also put the moral message in
the song. We can take moral message from the
song, especially in the life, time, and love. Here
2 moral messages from the song.
1. We must be able to appreciate someone who
already love us with all its love.
Appreciate someone who already love us
with all her or his heart because it can be your
last person you can trust or you call friend for
eternity.
2. We need to think all of our acts, because we
cant turn back time.
All of we do in the past or present must be
have impact on us and someone, and because
all of that cannot be change since we cannot
turn back time.
