Assignment #3 : Final Assignment

My favorite music is Stay With Me by Sam Smith. This song is a bullard pop song which

is fully filled with emotion. This song was published in 2014 in the In The Lonely Hour album.

The quality of it is really good because of almost all of the elements of the music, the style, the

use of instruments, and the mood and tone in this song. These components make this song to be

one of the best songs in my life.

In the music elements part, the pitch which is the melody is quite easy to remember and

this is the most important part because it can assure that the song will be in the music chart or

not. The rhythm in this song is good too which is 4/4 with 85 beats per minute. It is a slow pace

song. The intensity or the volume is not really intense but I think that it is suitable for this song.

The last one is tone color, the way that this song presents is bullard pop with a sad mood tone.

The way that the producer uses it is really good. The tone color for each part is really appropriate

for all the parts.

The style and instruments are also the critical part of this song. As I said from the

previous paragraph, the style of this song is bullard pop song. It is a slow tempo song with the

lyrics about a love story with a sad mood. The lyric is really good, it explains the story of this

song and it is like the audiences are listening to a tale and that makes audiences easy to follow to

the mood and the presentation of this song. The instruments used are also cool. There are a few

instruments that are used in this song such as piano, a percussion instrument that I do not know

its name, and the violin. These are a perfect combination and that makes this song be unique and

interesting.
 According to the previous paragraphs, I like this song because of the components of it,

especially the mood and the lyrics. The singing style of Sam Smith is so good. He can sing low

notes and also high notes too. The emotion of Sam Smith is through the song to the audience. It

is unique and hard to find other singers to be like him. The style of the singing and the song are

fully harmonized and that makes the song satisfy the listener.

Music always has a strength part and a weak part. The strength part of this song is already

provided in the previous paragraphs which are the components of the music. In the weakness

part, some of the high pitch notes may be too loud for some listeners and they might not like this

song. But for me, this song is a masterpiece song . Hence, I do not have any argument about this

song.

This song is really important to me. When I do not have any idea to select a song. This is

one of the songs that I always choose. Also my music type is like this song which is sad pop

music. When I feel sad, I think music is my friend. It is always with me when I do not have

anyone to listen to me. Singing with the song is like I am ventilating with someone. It really

helps me and makes me feel better.
