    Write a reflection about the topic – Individual Differences, discussed by Mrs.
    Gladys G. Geronimo.

    Answer:

    The topic she has discussed was all about individual differences which are
    defined as variation or deviation of an individual from the average of the group
    concerning mental and physical characteristics. According to Woodworth, It can be
    found in all psychological characteristics, physical and mental abilities, knowledge,
    habit, personality, and character traits.

    There are two (2) major factors affecting individual differences. These include
    heredity and environment. Heredity is the factor of differences that came from the
    parents while the environment refers to all the factors that are acquired by an individual
    from his/her surroundings. Heredity is consists of intelligence, physical conditions,
    talents, sex, age, temperament, and others. On the aspect of the environment, it
    consists of the family background, community, and school. Having these factors,
    children must be guided accordingly as he/she grows up. As much as possible they
    should live up and be oriented in a positive environment.

    These factors struck me most on this topic because as educators it is very


    important to be considerate about the individual differences of our students. They are
    unique and they have their way of development. I have to exert more efforts and
    interventions most especially for those who are less fortunate and slow learners. We
    don’t have to compare them with others. Make them feel that they are part of the group
    and accept who they are.
