If Intubation is not successful the following “Failed Intubation Drill” MUST BE FOLLOWED

Were vocal cords visualised during


No Initial laryngoscopy? Yes

Insert OP airway and


ventilate with 100% o2

Check head /neck position


BURP manoeuvre

Re-attempt intubation under direct Objective confirmation


Vision, after suction or removal of of tracheal placement
foreign body, as required (ODD ETCo2)?

Immediately remove ETT


and insert OP or NP airway No YES
and re-ventilate with 100% O2

Continue management in
