    The tip is responsible for detecting the unilateral light because if it is removed from the

    stimulus, no bending growth movement occurs, on the other hand, the same response is

    produced even if the lower part of the coleoptile is covered in soil.

    To show that the failure to produce a response in setup II is not due to the e ect of damage

    when the tip is removed.

    Some substances are produced from the tip of the coleoptiles which can di use through the
    agar block to reach the lower part of the coleoptile and exert lead to bending growth at the

    lower part of the coleoptile.
