This article relates to what anesthesiologist do. An anesthesiologist is a doctor who gives

a patient medication, so they don’t feel pain when they are being operated on but, these

specialists play a much bigger role than just watching people while in surgery. They also

have to monitor functions like blood pressure, heart rate, and body temperature.

Anesthesiologists also care for patients before and after the surgery, leading the

anesthesia care team, and giving advice about the pain.

In my second article I chose, the author talks about his path of becoming an

anesthesiologist. He starts out how he completed his undergraduate degree in Chinese

medicine but become an anesthesiologist instead. A lot of people to think that an

anesthesiologist’s job is simply to inject patients with drugs that induce sleep, but that is

not the case here. Their most important responsibility is insure their patients safety

before, during, and after the operation.

“The ability to diagnose and treat acute, life threatening perioperative abnormalities is

near the top of most anesthesiologist’s list.” The Healthcare field must ensure that its

personnel are uniformly and provably skilled practitioners. How to measure performance

challenges in all domains of medicine and is difficult for hazardous and complex domains

such as anesthesiology.

Anesthesiology is a medical specialty dealing with anesthesia and providing care for the

patient before, during, and after the surgery. Anesthesiology as a specialized field came

about because of the dangers, involving the use of carefully graduated doses of strong

poisons to deaden the pain. Overall, anesthesiology may now be defined as a practice of

medicine.

In 1846, one of mankind’s greatest fears, the pain of surgery, was no more. Dr. Morton

and John Warren made history on October 16 completing the first successful surgical

procedure preformed with anesthesia. Dr. Morton had single-handedly proven to the

world that when a gas is inhaled in the proper dose, its safe and very effective.
