URGENT

This report aims to put things in perspective and to shed light on the truth
of what really happened at the Lulu Roundabout. It seems that the global
media has been misled from the truth, because it chose to publish reports
sourced on the protesters only without taking into account the other side, to
determine what actually happened there.

1- First, they have claimed in front of the world on global media outlets
that these demonstrations were peaceful and aimed at achieving the
legitimate demands of rioters. Well here are the facts:
The news media has reported since the beginning of the so-called "Day of
anger " on February 14, the death of two people. However, they didn’t
mention all the details and facts, which were as follows:

In the case of the death of the first person named Ali Abd al-Hadi
Mushaima (21 years old) , a resident of Daih and who died by a shotgun
wound to the chest. Initial investigations reveal that he was carrying a
Molotov cocktail, poured boiling water on one of the police, and then
attacked a security man carrying a sword; trying to stab the police officer
who shot him to defend himself.
In the case of the death of the second person named Fadil Salman
(32 years old ), initial investigations indicate that a disabled police patrol
vehicle approached by a large number of demonstrators who gathered
around it, removed the protective iron fence on the patrol vehicle, forcibly
opened the door and dragged the police officer out of the car. While under
assault, he discharged his shot gun to protect himself.

Detailed investigations are still ongoing in the two incidents.

2- Bahraini law allows all citizens the freedom of expression and to

demonstrate, according to the National Action Charter which was
approved by an overwhelming majority of 98.4% in 2001, as long as a
license is taken from the Ministry of the Interior 3 days prior and
notifying of the place and time by Law No. 32 of 2006 Rate law No. 18
of year 1973 regarding public meetings and rallies.

However, in reality this did not happen and the law was violated by the
seizure of Lulu Roundabout.
3– They said that they did were not warned before the attack, but the
official Ministry report and video proves that they had been warned more
than once that they should disperse, as on the following photos. (SEE THE

4- They claim that the warning was not audible to the crowds, but it is
evident in the video that there was a person among the protesters with a
Speakerphone inciting them to not disperse and to resist the police officers

They claim that the demonstrators were sleeping when the police - 5
“attacked” them at 3 AM, but as is evident in the videos they were awake
and listening to an address. Also, the objective of attacking them at the
early hour was not to surprise the protesters while they were asleep, but to
cause the minimum number of casualties among the demonstrators and

5- While dealing with the situation the police ensured to leave the Southern
side of the roundabout clear to allow the demonstrators to disperse. This
demonstrates that police objective was not to assault them but to only

6- The police dealt with the protesters employing the minimum possible
force through the use of tear gas and rubber bullets as used in all
democratic countries (SEE THE OFFICAL MINISTRY OF INTERIOR REPORT

7 - The police carried only 4 shotgun weapons for self-defense in case of

an extreme situation. (SEE THE OFFICiAL MINISTRY OF INTERIOR

While the police were trying to disperse the demonstrators, some – 8

protesters used swords and other bladed weapons against the police,
resulting in the wounding of more than 50 police; 2 of them are in a very
.serious condition

9 - A protester ran over a number of police officers with his car, resulting in
serious injuries and broken bones and the amputation of three fingers from

10 - After the eviction of the demonstrators, the search of the tents

revealed a large quantity of swords, knives and a number of weapons and

11- The world media, international and national newspapers publish
information from Web sites without checking its authenticity, that is often
false and fabricated .This is incompatible with the message of the free and
responsible press and media, that requires a high standard in abiding by
impartiality and objectivity in the dissemination of news .

12- Many news sites published this image of an 8 years old girl which they
said had been shot by the police.

However, the truth is that this is a Philippino girl who died in the
Philippines because of a dog attack that happened in 2008!

In conclusion, I hope that the world’s media would be neutral and objective
in dealing with these events and concentrate on publishing the truth and
