KINS 4306 Internship Spring 2021

3/21/21

Weekly Journal #9

For this week at my internship, we were able to get some stuff done. On Monday we had

morning workouts and Monday madness which consisted of fun games, education, and art

projects. This week was St. Patrick’s day so we gave them some information about it and its

importance. After Monday madness we had lunch with the girls and worked on the checker

board outside. We are almost done with it but due to weather issues we couldn’t finish it up, but

hopefully we will this week. On Tuesday we had our morning workouts with the guys and some

practicum students come in and do music and workouts with individuals. After that I hosted

drumming with the girls and then hosted social hour with them. As I was eating lunch and

talking ot the people online I got prepared for brain games. We decided to do wheel of fortune

which is one of their favorites. After brain games we had to finish off the day with some music

with the people online. On Wednesday we did our normal morning workouts and then had

specific workouts for some of the guys individually. Some of the interns went on a field trip with

the girls so I stayed to help out in any way possible. I helped do some art work and music. I then

had lunch outside with the guys and then got ready for brain games. We decided to do jeopardy

which is one of my favorites. After brain games we had to finish off the day with some music

with Jay. On Thursday the weather was not the best so Barbara Coleman assigned the interns and

I to workout on the storage areas and clean and organize for the whole day. It was a lot of world

since they are wanting to move stuff around and make their offices and work spaces look better.

We moved items around such as chairs, tables, other items that they have used in the past.
Thursday consisted of a lot of manual labor but it was good to help. On Friday we had the

normal workouts and then did some art work. Fridays are more relaxing so we had some freedom

to brainstorm for the future weeks. We ate lunch with the girls and then got brain games ready.

We did spot the difference which consists of 2 photos and spotting 10 differences. After brain

games we had a meeting about what we are doing Monday. Monday we are meeting everyone at

Lockerly and are going to do some fun stuff and also educate them on physical, mental,

emotional, and nutrition health. I’m excited for that for sure. On Saturday we normally don’t do

anything on the weekends, but we had a special event from the GIVE center called the potato

drop. Many volunteers, the interns and I, and other people came out in the morning to help bag

up sweet potatoes and then move them into parking lot spaces so we have them organized for

when the people come pick them up in their trucks. We would have to carry the bags and put

them in their trucks and make sure we got all the bags out. Saturday was a fun day for sure and I

am glad I was able to help with the potato drop. This week was eventful for sure and im excited

to see what is in store for next week at the LEC.
