Explain in 1 to 2 sentences given sample graphic images the


basic concepts like colors, typography, images. (6 pts)

In regards to typography concept on an image, it is most effective if


only one to two fonts are used since it suggests that readability and
appeal is important for viewers to take interest, as it is also a means
to make an interpretation when a different font is used. Color used on
the image shows the importance of saturation, the range and intensity
of colors were seen contrasting to the darker side, and also the hue
of the color green and orange were seen steering from the darker
side to complement the images’ saturation.

2. Explain in 1 to 2 sentences the 3 principles and 3 techniques of


design using applications (whether opensource or proprietary)
to develop contents for social campaigns (12 pts)

Graphic Design- Graphic Design in its essence is the use of basic


concepts such as colors, typography and images to create pleasing
illustrations, PowerPoints, logos, posters, applications, and paintings.
But in the contemporary era, graphic designs are not just used to
visually communicate with others, but to also be able to present
visually pleasing graphics that will create a good user experience to
boost one’s emotional state.
Branding and Identity- A branding will make the people’s
impression of a certain thing, whether a company, organization, a
product, and service. While the identity is a visual reference and
representation of a said brand, it will serve as a perceptible sign to
help people to recognize the brand.

Layout and Composition- In simple terms, it is the building blocks of


design, these two takes up the arrangement of elements in a design
which makes use of good compositions to help the outcome of a
design pleasing for its viewer.

Typography- In typography, instead of the overall elements of design


is being arranged, texts is its focus. Various arrangements of texts
are considered to make is appealing to the eyes of the viewer, which
involves certain elements like; font style, typeface, and text
structures.

Color- One of the very essences of a composition is the colors used,


it can either be one color to a combination of two or three colors that
can be used in a design, however there is a science behind the
mixing of colors, which is called the Color Theory. It is the study of
how color may complement or destroy each other depending on how
people use it, the color theory is the reason that the colors have much
more in-depth science that can be used to upgrade a design.

Image- An image refers to photographs, graphics, illustration, and


etc., since having images to a design makes it more appealing for the
one viewing it. However, context is important in inserting images in
different design, as it may help or sabotage the whole idea of a
design, without proper context, images can be the difference between
an appealing design and not.

3. Hedge (2017) listed 6 importance of white space in design.

Improved Comprehension- White spaces in a layout makes the


readability and legibility on a content becomes easily scannable.
Comprehension is also increased because of the left and right
margins and proper use of white space between lines.

Focus and attention- Macro White Spaces are large spaces


between the layout and layout elements, which helps the layout to
guide its users on what to prioritize. Since, a secluded part of the
space is used to help the users navigate the layout with a glance.

Increased attraction rate- An attention span of 6 seconds is the


average for internet users, which makes it effective to use whitespace
to deliver the purpose of a layout. For example, the GOOGLE
homepage has an evident amount of use for the white space which
affects the user to identify its use for searching.

Guide the user to local grouping- The human mind uses the Law of
Proximity to organize information, with the use of white spaces,
margins and gaps between grids or frameworks becomes evident as
a way to handle the logical groupings of layout.

Branding and design tone- The difference on sophistication and


definitions of web pages can differ with the use of micro or macro
white spaces. It can be identified that most luxurious webpages use
the macro whitespaces, and the news websites that use adequate
amounts of white spaces to categorize its ample contexts.

Creates a breathing space for users- The use of white space lets
the viewer have an atmosphere to breathe and avoid overload of
information due to suffocating large texts and images. The white
space helps the eyes to take a rest and make the layout more
soothing to the eyes of the one viewing.
