DP Induction

Specification

• 18/20deg vertical fan

• Possibility to tilt +/- 15deg
• Maximum range for DP about 1 km: (With prism)
• Range accuracy is 0.2m
• Bearing accuracy is 0.02° -> Inaccuracy at 1 km = 35 cm
• But, system gives relative bearing, gyro used to calculate position ->

Absolute Inaccuracy of 8.7 m at 1 km

DP Induction

• Fanbeam can be specially configured

for multi-targeting
• The multi-targeting is used as input to
the DP in Follow Target mode
• The DP-operator can select to follow
Position, Heading or Position and
Heading
DP Induction

• Advantages:
• High accuracy when distance is short
• Easy to install
• Passive target and requires no support when
installed

• Disadvantages:
• Inoperative when sun shining directly into the
lenses
• Lenses can be affected by condensation, rain and
salt spray
• Vulnerable to fog, snow and heavy rain
• May be confused by bright lights near the target
• May suffer from reflective items near the target
• No geographical co-ordinates

Specification

• 16deg vertical fan

• Possibility to tilt +/- 20deg
• Rotor speed: 360°/sec
• Laser Frequency: 30kHz

• Maximum range for DP about 1 km: (With prism)

• Positional accuracy: Better than 0,5% of range - depends on

target type
• But, system gives relative bearing, gyro used to calculate
position
DP Induction

• Advantages:
• High accuracy when distance is short

• Passive target(s) and requires no support when installed
• Intelligent algorithms built in to avoid false targets
• Auto-leveling: Compensating for pitch/roll

• Disadvantages:
• Vulnerable to sun shining directly into the lenses
• Lenses can be affected by condensation, rain and salt spray
• Vulnerable to fog, snow and heavy rain
• Rotor vulnerable to ice build up between rotor and gearbox cover.
• Possible maintenance issues
• No geographical co-ordinates
