Measurement

By providing an output in the

form of an actual topographic
map with high resolution, not
only the information you get,
but also accurate supporting
data for site management
actions, including the
calculation of mineral reserves

Monitoring

By using drones, the spatial

resolution obtained can be
maximized and the duration of
work can be more efficient,
making it easy for you to know
the actual condition of your
mining site in detail without
seeing the condition of the site
area that is difficult to be
assisted by other mapping
technologies, as well as

It's important to note that LIDAR pulses don't go through

very dense vegetation is still not possible, even with LIDAR.

Innovation in Metal
Exploration: Drone
Magnetic Survey
Tools and sensors play
important roles in mining
exploration, especially when
it comes to metals and
minerals. Magnetic anomaly
is one of the factors being
measured and evaluated to
find the indicative location of
a specific mineral. By
performing survey using
drone, more lines can be
acquired in a single day
compared to ground survey,
and it can be used in
inaccessible or hazardous
area, a perfect new friend for
geophysicist.
Benefits of Magnetic Drone

● Faster compared to land magnetic

● Closer to the ground compared to
airborne ➟ Better resolution
● Can be used in inaccessible & hazardous
area
● By using RTK, position accuracy 1-2 cm
can be achieved
● Cost benefits
Potential Applications
● Mining exploration ➟ detect potential ore
bodies
● Oil and Gas Exploration ➟ detect faults and
igneous intrusions
● Surveying ➟for remaining buried UXO
objects or infrastructure)
● Pipe Detection
● Surveillance
● Archeology

Drone GPR are lightweight
(compared to a manned airplane or
a helicopter), easily transportable
by car and capable of flying
autonomously at low altitudes with
high precision. Such an approach
assures delivery of accurate survey
results, is also safer for personnel
and more time-efficient.

A GPR mounted on a drone

enables to see through the surface
of ground, ice, rocks, freshwater,
and buildings or through structures
at unsafe and hazardous
environments without
compromising the safety of staff,
providing an additional solution for
more efficient surveying.
Benefits & Challenges of Drone GPR

Benefits: Challenges:
● Faster in acquiring data → higher ● Lower accuracy if fly high
productivity ● Lower resolution due to its nature of
● No direct involvement of operator → operation
better safety of the worker ● More noise from surrounding
● Can be operated above buildings, jungles,
fresh waters, snows, sands, and Note: current GPR-drone integrated system does not
hazardous area enable to map small or thin objects such as cables or
thin pipes. It is capable of detecting objects with an
approximate size of 5 - 10% of penetration depth,
such as concrete sewage channels, tunnels,
bunkers, etc.
Comparison: GPR & Drone GPR

GPR: Drone GPR:

+ Higher accuracy because closer to the + More productive (1 km in a 15-minutes
ground flight, up to 8 flights per day)
- Less productive (1-2 km in a day) + No direct involvement of the operator
- DIrect involvement of the operator (sensor (pilot does not need to follow the sensor
needs to be carried by walking) and can operate from a safe distance)
- Limited to either an area can be accessed + Can be flown above hazardous area. No
by walking or not. issue about accessibility of the area.
- Lower accuracy especially when flying
* Resolution is not defined by the acquisition high (> 5 meters above the ground)
method but by the radar specification. - Potentially more noise due to air column
Potential Applications

See the Unseen
Multispectral camera allows us to observe the
unseen spectrum which is infra-red, which can be
used to identify health condition of crops. The data
is represented as Normalized Difference
Vegetation Index (NDVI). The color represents a
vegetation index. The brighter the color, the more
infra-red being reflected, and vice versa.

By having this data, agronomist can identify

anomalies on crops, or phenomena on blocks.
Therefore, allowing management to take action
quicker to mitigate the effects.
Case Study
Conventional Method vs UAV
Stockyard Survey
Method :
Laser Scanner + GPS
survey
It took for a scanner to do 89 times
to achieve an overall survey and
took a total of 3 days to
complete.
Stockyard Survey
Laser Scanner + GPS
survey

Due to the restrictions on scanning angles and

distances, there are quite a lot of lost data
sections or dead spots(shadows).
This means that there is not always a very
accurate representation of the surveyed
stockpiles as some of the data is lost and the
vertices for the surfaces are created only from
the data that is available.
Stockyard Survey
Method : UAV

The entire stockyard was surveyed in

30 minutes and data was delivered
within an hour of completing the
survey task.
Stockyard Survey
Method : UAV

Since images are captured from the

sky, there is always accurate
representations of stockpile profiles.
Quality and density of point clouds
also contribute to creating accurate
3D model.
Tailing Storage
Facility Survey
Total survey was conducted using
drone survey method and the survey
was completed in 1 hour and total
area covered was 460ha.
Using normal survey methods this
task would take weeks, and
surveying all areas would prove
difficult especially tailings settling
areas that are wet.
Mining Exploration
Method : Geomagnetic
UAV Survey
Drone was flown 50 m agl with terrain
following, and can cover up to 24
km/day, with or without obstacle.
Surveying same distance would take
two weeks for ground survey, and
most of mining exploration area will
possess danger to the crew of
ground survey.

This LiDAR system configuration is a perfect
solution to be operated in various situations
including very dense forest, windy shore, or
even high elevation location. Unlike other
LiDAR system, Terra LiDAR does not use IMU
for attitude determination but a set of single
frequency positioning system, allowing the
reduction of investment of the equipment.

1. LAND CLEARING
Land Clearing atau pembukaan lahan
adalah proses pembersihan dan penyiapan
lahan sebelum dimulainya aktivitas
pertanian, perkebunan, atau
penambangan/ pembangunan suatu proyek
konstruksi.

Ada berbagai metode yang dapat

digunakan dalam pembukaan dan
pengolahan lahan, yaitu:
1. Teknik tebas bakar (slash and burn).

2. Mekanis, tanpa bakar (zero burn)

5. Freeface 3D Modelling
3D Modelling diperlukan untuk melakukan analisa efektifitas proses blasting/ peledakan
dikaji dari geometri peledakannya.
Geometri peledakan akan sangat mempengaruhi
persebaran energi yang akan mempengaruhi
fragmentasi hasil peledakan. Ketika secara geometri
tidak maksimal maka akan menimbulkan
material-material boulder.
