• For the multiple choice questions,

 There may be multiple correct answers.
 The best correct answer must be chosen.

inclusively.
 Each lecture topic should have the same number of multiple choice
questions.
• Note that although Lecture topics 1, 2 and 3 are not directly

Exam Preparation …

• All materials delivered for the exam lecture topics should

be covered in the preparation for the exam.
 However, students may want to study the review questions and the
written questions given in the tutorial exercises first, and then
lecture slides.
• Note that in the exam, acronyms are often used instead of
the full names of the protocols or other items discussed in
this unit.
 E.g. SSL will be used instead of Secure Socket Layer, USM instead
of User Security Model, etc.
 Students are assumed to be familiar with all these acronyms as no
list of acronyms will be given.
• Unless stated otherwise, e.g., IKE v1 or IKE v2, the term
IKE (without v1 or v2) generally refers to IKE v1.

… Exam Preparation

• As stated on Page 2 of the Learning Guide, Study Load

 A student is expected to study an hour per credit point a week. For
example a 10 credit point unit would require 10 hours of study per
week. This time includes the time spent within classes during
lectures, tutorials or practicals.
 For example, 8 lecture topics may require 8  10 hours of study.
• The format of the multiple choice questions and written
questions are more or less the same as those in the mid-
Session Test.
• Usually there are no exam materials related to the
practicals.
 However, practical materials which appear in Lecture slides or
Tutorial exercises may be included in the exam.

 Gently cross out items exceeding the specified number
• Some questions are divided into parts, e.g., (a), (b), etc.
 It is for presentation reason only.

… Some Information about Written Questions

• When a question asks for “in details”, the details are more
or less the same as those delivered in the lectures and/or
tutorial exercises.
• Unless specified in the question, wrong answers are usually
not penalized, except that they will not be given any marks
 However, if a wrong answer contradicts a correct answered answer,
the two answers cancel each other.
• Note that should there be difference between the
information in these slides from that in any official
document, such the unit outline, the learning guide, or the
