Introduction for the procession of the Most Blessed Sacrament
The Blessed Sacrament will now be carried in procession led by the cross bearer and
accompanied by candles and incense to the Altar of Repose. At the end of the meal, after a
hymn was sung, Jesus and His disciples left for the Mount of Olives. There in the garden he
prayed before His passion. Symbolically, the consecrated body of Christ is now taken to the
altar of repose where it will remain for adoration. Jesus looks forward to you spending time
with Him tonight just as He longed for the company of His disciples and asked them, “Could
you not watch one hour with Me?” Let us join Him to express our gratitude for His constant
presence with us in the Eucharist.
