Unit 7: Rules-Based Availability Check in Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP)

In the condition table, you define condition records that, in turn, define the specific access to a
rule. You enter the condition type (access sequence) and specific characteristic values.

Definition of Rule Determination

Figure 83: Definition of Rule Determination

If the values of the key combinations match the field values of the sales order, then a rule
(used in the ATP check) is assigned to a value of key fields from a condition table.

Configuration: Rule Strategy

Figure 84: Configuration: Rule Strategy

The rule strategy is also known as the condition procedure. The strategy contains the steps to
be followed during the rule selection process. Each step is a condition type.
You use the rule strategy to identify the steps to be taken during rule selection.
Typically, only one condition type is necessary for each rule strategy. However, the SAP
Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO) system supports several steps. This is
because the flexibility provided by the access sequence (a flexibility to handle multiple
dependencies) makes several condition types unnecessary. A condition determines the
circumstances in which to exclude the system’s access to a specific condition type.
