Unit 7: Rules-Based Availability Check in Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP)

In substitution procedures of the type 0 (chain), the sequence of the substitutions is fixed. As
a result, you cannot enter any costs.
The selection indicator for chains gives you the option to model a specific method within a
selection of products. The indicator defines the product in the product list where substitutions
start. Moreover, this indicator can only be evaluated for access strategies 01 and 04 (see
below).

Note:
Both requirement quantities and confirmed quantities from the ATP check
always refer to the base measuring units for the products involved. In a product
substitution, the measuring units are not converted if the units change within a
substitution.
In SAP SCM 5.0, there is an exception to this; if an SAP CRM system is used as
the order management system, then it is possible to convert the units of
measure.

In global ATP, the location and product substitution procedures (and the combination of the
resulting lists) simplify maintenance of resulting substitutions of location products.
The system automatically generates a sequence. Using this process, you do not have to
maintain each substitution manually (although it is also possible).
Determination Types
A type is assigned to each location determination procedure. The determination type defines
the possible combinations of location and product substitutions that are evaluated in a
subsequent step.
