Lesson: Setting Up Rules-Based Availability Check in Global Available-to-Promise (Global ATP)

- This is the standard case.

- If you want the system to find a PDS or PPM for substitution, then the rule must
contain, in addition to the PDS or PPM substitution procedure, other substitution
procedures. In terms of content, the location products in the PDS or PPM substitution
procedure must match the substitutions.
● The PDS or PPM substitution procedure does not use another substitution procedure:
- If you have set the Start immediately rule in the check instructions, then you can work
without another substitution procedure.
To maintain the check instructions, in the SAP SCM system, in Customizing settings for
Advanced Planning and Optimization, choose Global Available-to-Promise (Global
ATP)→ General Settings→ Maintain Check Instructions.
- When maintaining the check instructions, the rule evaluation is carried out immediately
and only on the generating requirement. You must ensure that a PDS or PPM is
maintained for the corresponding requested location product.
- You set the Rules-based ATP indicator in the check instructions.
- You create a rule control that defines the evaluation of several procedures—a
substitution procedure and a PDS or PPM procedure. In this rule control, you also
select a substitution level for the PDS or PPM substitution.

Rule Control
In the rule control, you save information about the processing method of the procedures
associated with the rule.

Features of the Rule Control

● Evaluation strategy for product/location and PDS or PPM procedure, which manages the
individual procedures of a rule
● Combination of product and location substitutions:
- Access strategy of substitution lists
- Combination of substitution lists
● Substitution level of PDS or PPM substitutions, which controls the results of the entire rule

The settings for the rule control affect the execution of the actual rule. They include general
settings such as a list sequence, product strategy, and location strategy.
Use the general settings to specify whether the rule control is inclusive or exclusive. The
settings also specify a maximum number of substitutions to be carried out within an ATP
check.

Note:
Currently, this number can be 0 when there are no restrictions and 1 when there is
only one substitution.
