Lesson Procedures
Introduction (5 min.):
After students have arrived, I will explain the game rules before they break off into groups. Students will be
allowed to choose their groups (of 3-4 students per group) and their team captains. After students have chosen
their team captain, the captain will come up to me and grab their first level.
Body (60 min.):
 After receiving their first level, students will begin to work together through the questions on Level One.
After students finish the first level students will work together to solve the puzzle and discover the code
that unlocks the next level
 After unlocking the code, the team captain will come up to me with the code. If the code is correct, the
team will receive a digit and move on to the next level.
 This process will be repeated until they get to level four. Then, students will get to choose between a
Normal Mode or Hard Mode of Level Five.
 To win, students will need to show me the code for Level five, and they will need to compile the digits I
have given them to create a unique code that will allow them to win the game.
 The first four teams to finish will receive their choice of a sticker or a candy of their choice.

Alternative Activity:
Students who are unable to work in groups will have the option to decipher a puzzle that requires them to
identify vocabulary and unlock a code word. If they finish, they are also entitled to candy or a sticker of their
choice.

If students are finished:

They will be encouraged to begin reviewing their vocabulary sheet and continue preparing for their Unit Exam.
Closure (5 min.):
Five minutes before class is over, students will sanitize their workstations (or whatever area they worked in) and
get ready for lunch!
