Drop down touch

Description - A touch is to be a two handed touch tackle on hips


- Defender drops down to one knee until a try is scored or a
turnover occurs
- As attacking team plays on, number of defenders will decrease,
creating more space
- Cross try line and ground ball to score
- Attacker options:1. Continue and pass to others 2. Form a stable
base and offload 3. Go to the ground and pop to support 4. Go to
the ground and present the ball with correct technique to support
Variations Student cannot catch the ball unless they are on the move – promotes
agility and evasion
- Increase width of the pitch to create more space to score
- Introduce so that minimum 2 or 3 platers must be in the scoring
zone before they can score
- Play a game with tags therefore the player must pass the ball
once the tag is made.
KTP Running with the ball:
- Carry the ball in 2 hands in front of the body

Passing – step, shift, swing


- Hold the middle of the ball with thumbs on top and fingers
underneath
- Swing the ball across the body with both hands and elbows
slightly bent
- The head leads the rotation of the upper body towards the
receiver
- Release the ball and follow through in the direction of the pass

Bozo touch
Descriptio - Students are divided into 3 teams’, 2 teams play whilst one waist to
n enter the game when the score is made
- When a score is made, the defence pick up the ball and attack
immediately
- The scoring team leave the pitch whilst the waiting team run on and
defend
- Turnover of possession is via a score, a forward pass, dropped ball,
intercept etc
- The rules may also include a six touch turnover

3 on 3 pick and pop vs pick n pass
Description - Students are divided into 5 groups of 6 or 7 (depending on class
numbers)
- There will be 3 offensive players and 2 defensive players (they
are to rotate through)
- The 3 offensive players will start on the end line of grid or the
score try line.
- The 2 defensive players will start 7 metres opposite them on the
7m line
- The offense player’s main objective is to initiate the touch and try
beat the defender to the next 7m line and get them offside,
scoring a try in 3 attempts
- The defence aim is to attempt to tag the ball carrier and get back
7m
- The offside rule is implied in this game
Variations Progression:
- Add in a tap when the defender is caught offside
- Add in a second pass and an extra rotation
