Method Statement Detailed For Drywall Fit
Method Statement Detailed For Drywall Fit
METHOD STATEMENT FOR DRYWALL PARTITION
1. Purpose of the Method of Statement
he rationale of this Method Statement is to describe the steps involved in gypsum board installation to
wall as drywall and partition all in accordance with approved shop drawings, ensuring safety, perfection
and durability.
2. Description of Work
a. The work includes covering of wall partition and drywall as well as false columns and other
design specified in the plan as to cover the ceiling with the desired dimension, elevations and levelness
all in accordance with the shop drawings.
b. Standard accessories required in gypsum wall include the required wall studs and blind rivets
that will fasten to the concrete wall or bare wall. With enough black screw to tighten the gypsum board
to the steel framing lay according t the layout specified.
3. Delivery, Storage and Handling
a. To reduce the risk of damage, plasterboard should be delivered to site just prior to
installation. During handling and storage, sheets should be carried in an ‘upright’ position with
particular care taken to protect the edges.
b. Plasterboard should be stored in neat, flat stacks off the ground/floor in a dry covered area.
This will prevent sagging and minimize damage to board edges and surfaces.
c. All metal framings shall be delivered to site without any damages and any sign of corrosion.
Protect metal framing and lathing materials from corrosion and damage. Store in dry, ventilated space,
off the ground. Deliver in manufacturer's unopened containers or bundles, fully identified with name,
brand, type, and grade.
4. Equipment & Tools
Below is the equipment involved in the suspended ceiling works:
Cut‐off Machine / Grinder with Metal cutting blade
Drills with proper Drill bits & Screw bits
Snipping Tools & Riveter
Level tools (Laser level/ Hose Level/ Level Bar )
Metal Cutter
Spatula
Ramset
Wrench

8. Installation of Drywall Partition
a. Framing Installation
Prior to installing plasterboard, building should be thoroughly checked to ensure that the
existing structure / framing where the metal framing will be attached are properly plumbed,
leveled and square. Other trades have finished their ‘rough‐ins’ penetration on adjoining slab
and wall.
Provide layout of wall partition on the floor & ceiling indicating location of frames (center of
frame or finish line of wall) Adjustment will be made on site according to the layout made.
Install the top & bottom Track using appropriate fastener where applicable. Concrete nail or
Ramset fastener to fix on the slab, Screw or nail on wooden parts
FLOOR HEAD
Allow extra length fastener for attaching thru any installed linings.
When fixing to concrete, provide damp proof membrane underneath no less than 10mm wider
than the track width.
Joints in track shall be butt jointed – if fixed to concrete provide 2mm gap between ends to alow
for shrinkage.
Check & verify location of doors, windows and other openings prior to installation of Vertical
frames. Plumb base layout projecting to ceiling.
STUD INSTALLATION
For standard installation insert the studs into the top and floor tracks and twist to lock as shown.

Perimeter studs must be fixed with the web(back) against the wall. All other studs are to the
face in the same direction.
The spacing of studs, joists or battens takes into account the spacing required shall be 610mm
(24”) Vertical spacing x 406mm (16”) Horizontal spacing. When the installation is completed,
the plasterboard will comply with the required level of finish. Adjust vertical studs on all the
openings once it is set and finalize.
For corner, junctions, wall ends etc. it is recommended to use extra studs. This can be by
“boxing” the Stud.
Studs may be held in place by the grip” of the track or mechanically fastened by crimping or pop
rivets or fastener in non‐fire rated partitions, single or multi‐level buildings. For Fire rated
partitions may use light locating fasteners that fail at high temperature such as alum rivet id
necessary.

Maximum deviations in the bearing surface of the finished framing do not exceed the maximum
tolerances allowed for the required Level of Finish. Where these tolerances are exceeded, a
suitable levelling system should be used.
Noggings supporting services such as taps and cisterns do not protrude beyond the face of the
framing
All openings are framed and ceiling perimeter battens are installed where required
Trimmers are installed where primary ceiling support members such as girders, trusses and
joists, change direction within a room
All contact surfaces are dry, clean and free from foreign materials such as oil, grease and dirt
Plumbing and electrical services have been installed and do not protrude beyond the face of the
framing
The area is weatherproof.
b. Plasterboard Installation
• Carefully plan installation. Sheets should be set out to ensure best coverage and to minimize
butt joints and waste. As the face of a steel stud can deflect initially, the correct sequence of attaching
the board is important. The first board shall be attached to the open side of the stud. The face will
deflect slightly then will pull tight against the board. Support the stud to avoid twisting and fully screw
the board to the stud before continuing. The next sheet can now be screwed to the closed side of the
stud. Deflection will be minimal as the first sheet helps keep rigid assembly and the result is a correct
flat joint.
• Plasterboard fixing sequence shall be as shown on the figure below. They will be fixed in the
sequence as shown A B C D. When installing the first side (a & B) fasten the board at the edges only (1 &
2). The center must not be fastened until the 2nd side (C & D) have been installed. Located board joints
on each side of the wall on alternate studs. Screws shall be fastened in sequence 1‐6. Correct sequence
will minimize any mis alignment problems and result in higher quality finish.

• Where possible, sheets should run across doors and windows and be cut out after fixing. The
cut‐outs can be used to cover small areas.
• Full length sheets should be used where possible to eliminate the need for sheet‐end butt
joints.
• Where sheet‐end butt joints are necessary, they must be positioned between supports.
• Stagger butt joints on adjoining sheets and with those on opposite sides of the wall.
• Vertical joints should be kept a minimum of 200mm from the edge of openings.
• Ceiling sheets should be installed with the long edge at right angles to the direction of the
support members.
• Provide control joints in walls and ceilings at:
− maximum 12m intervals in both directions
(max 6m for external ceilings)
− at every change of lining material
− over construction joints in the substrate
− at every change of substrate material.
