GULAYAN SA PAARALAN
S.Y. 2018- 2019

Historical Background
February 24, 2011, President Benigno S. Aquino III, issued Executive Order (EO) 26,
declaring the implementation of the National Greening Program as a government
priority program to reduce poverty, promote food security, environmental stability and
biodiversity conservation, and enhance climate change mitigation and adaptation.
On June, 2012, Nelly C. Conde, THS Principal decided to join the NGP because she
believed that a school garden can be built and used to meet learning standards.
On the same year, she specifically appointed Nerissa S. Estrella, TLE Head Teacher to
strengthen the NGP program in which Bernardita V. Angeles, TLE Master Teacher as
the NGP Coordinator.
On July 2017, Nerissa S. Estrella, OIC Office of the Principal , Eunice C. Soriano , TLE
teacher as GGPor Gulayan sa Paaralan coordinator under the supervision of Mrs.
Bernardita V. Angeles, TLE Master Teacher as project consultant.
Greatly, all the support was given to us by the school despite some problems that we
have in starting the program. Nevertheless, everybody supported us in our endeavours
to create a beautiful school garden.

Introduction
Imagine a schoolyard garden that students and faculty show off with pride,
not only because of its beauty but because it enables a whole new set of learning
experiences for students. We are positively hoping that we can make this vision a reality
at Tañong High School.
Tañong High School has the potential to enhance student learning outside of the
classroom as much as it does inside. A curriculum-based school garden
could serve as a living laboratory and outdoor classroom for subjects across
the curriculum right in our own schoolyard.
We would like to celebrate the rich diversity in our school by creating a garden that
brings students together to learn about vegetable gardening. In the process, they can
participate in activities that increase knowledge, psychomotor, creativity, involvement,
cooperation and many other aspect of volunteerism.

Priorities of Action
1.Vertical Gardening
•To improve beauty and add character, variety and colour of the school premises
• To expand the number/reproduce kinds of herbs, vegetables that can be used for
school feeding program .
• To transform the schoolyard into interactive outdoor learning laboratory.
2. Gulayan sa Paaralan
• To adopt organic gardening that supplement the feeding program of the school
• To inculcate the habit of eating vegetable that they personally planted in the school
• To teach student the importance of agriculture through gardening in school yards
3. Pet Bottle Decors and Planter
•To raise awareness and promote innovative recycling using plastic bottles
•To divert plastic waste into new decorative pieces
•To allow students to showcase their skills and artistic abilities
•To encourage students to practice sense of responsibility
