Whenever we think about our ecosystem, we thought to extract benefits from environment –
where we do not seems to be bothering about other life forms. Ecosystem is an interconnected
system where life forms interacts with physical environment, they bound with an ecological chain
where various organisms play different roles, among all these organisms ‘Human Being’ sits at top
of this chain; they have brain in order to maintain ecological harmony but sometimes human –
using brain destroy environment ruthlessly. According to one report presented by ecowatch.com,
nearly 90% of land animals could lose habitat by the year 2050, on the other side marine life got a
severe hit; some experts talk to ‘The Print’ – claimed that about 90% of coral reefs could soon be
dead and waves of mass marine extinction may be unleashed & seas may be left overheated
acidified which would lacks in oxygen compositions. These claims can become reality if human
destruct environment constantly without any checks and limits, human should aware of all these
happenings which somehow become blind spot in human society.

However, in order to make blind spot an attention spot several inventions, techniques and
innovations were already walking on the green track to restore degraded ecosystem. Several NGOs,
People Communities as well as individuals were doing their best to save ecosystem. Several aspects
were doing something to save environment but - here the question arises What we can do in our
ground level to save ecosystem?

I was thinking about this question and tried to develop some ideas on the basis of my intellect.
While thinking about techniques or ways to save ecosystem, I have developed ideas by keeping
various elements of ecosystem in mind such as water, land, air etc. so, following are some ways or
techniques through which we can save our ecosystem from degrading.

DRAIN CATERS WATER MANAGEMENT

‘Drainage system’ plays a major role in every household activities, and even in different societies.
People drain waste water without thinking about its management, they sees waste water a waste
but it can be use again by managing drainage pipelines. Every building has drainage pipelines, from
where the waste water goes to the sewers. If we try to connect all drainage pipelines with one main

pipeline which is open to the land, we can save water and even regenerate water. This technique
can save environment in many ways such as:

A. It leads to green cover; land becomes fertile and greenish.

B. It generates ground water and increase - level of ground water.
C. It lowers the temperature of environment.
D. It leads to drain water harvesting and helps us to preserve precious water from wastage.

ONE TREE PROVISION

Trees is considered to be the life source on earth, it helps environment in many ways. About 260
pounds of oxygen is produced and 48 pounds of CO 2 is absorbed by a single tree in a year, which
maintains a gaseous balance in environment. In recent years, things like deforestation resulted vital
problems such as Soil erosion, high composition of carbon dioxide in environment etc. in order to
cope up with this situation we are the only one who can save environment and its balance - by
following the mantra of “One Tree Provision”. We only need to do one thing, planting at least one
tree in our home. By planting tree in our home, we can play a major role in saving ecosystem. A tree
in home can provide fresh pure oxygen to at least 4 members of family, beside this fact if each
house in an area have tree; they can provide better environment to themselves as well as lowers
the percentage of carbon dioxide in a particular area. The mantra of One Tree Provision should be
followed by everyone in order to restore ecosystem and environment which is degrading day by
day.

DIGITAL CAMPAIGNING
In contemporary world, digital media platforms play a major role in society, it connects several
people breaking boundaries and differences, it usually make a chain where we seems to be
connected to each other - sharing concerns, ideas, information, technologies and even our tensions
towards ecosystem. Now days, these digital media platforms become a powerful tool for common
people; it helps a person to become a ‘voice of voiceless’. So, we can start our own campaign in
order to save ecosystem. We can shoot a video, record a podcast, and even write a blog in different
sites. These sites help us to disseminate our thoughts to different people – around the globe. So
digital media can help us to run an eco-campaign where different people work and share ideas in
order to save our precious ecosystem.

AVOID POLYTHENE BAGS

In our daily life, we use polythene bags for different purposes; it is durable, lightweight which make
it a popular stuff in society. Beside this fact, if we try to see its positive and negative aspects; we
will got to know that it have more negative aspects in comparative to positive aspects. Polythene
bags are difficult and costly to recycle, most end up on landfill sites where they take around 300
years to degrade, on the other hand about 100 – 200 animals die per year due to consumption of
polythene bags. Due to these phenomena’s, people should avoid using polythene bags and try to
use alternatives, such as paper bags, mason jars, reusable cloth bags, wax paper etc. These
alternatives were useful as well as non – harmful for our ecosystem. If some alternatives are
available - than one should use these alternatives rather than polythene bags. Avoiding polythene
bags will save our environment and will help ecosystem to save from degradation.

So these were some ideas or ways by which we can save our environment from degradation,
ecosystem is an important asset own by everyone, so everybody have some responsibility to save
ecosystem from degradation; people have to understand this phenomena and should do some
activities to save ecosystem. “Ecosystem needs us and we need ecosystem – Save it”.
