 Management Information Systems
 Decision Support Systems
 Executive Support Systems
 Process Control System
 Enterprise Collaboration System
 Design and Production Systems
 Management Support Systems
 Executive Information Systems
2. In your own words explain the illustration bellow
a. Transaction Processing System
As what I have seen in the illustration above, there is an electronic device that used by the
customers for the transactions. They used to pay their bills through electronics or
computer. And after the transaction, it will be process by a system the data wherein you
can see the collected transactions done by the customers.

b. Decision Support System

As what the illustration shows above, there are data come from internal and external. It
tells about their standing of their company, if they can handle to operate by it. To come
up for a final decision, the DSS helps the manager to decide whether to operate or not
because with the use of DSS it makes the decision process easier.

3. Links computers that are in close proximity—in the same building or office
complex.

 Local Area Network (LAN)

4. Covers a relatively large geographical area, its computers are connected by

telephone lines, wireless technology, or even satellite.

5. Encrypts and transmits data while it travels from one place to another on the
internet.

 Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Assessment

Quiz 4 (2 points each)

• Give at least 5 advantages/disadvantages of NETWOKS

Advantages:

1. Sharing devices such as printers saves money.

2. Files can easily be shared between users.

3. Network users can communicate by email and instant messenger.

4. Security is good - users cannot see other users' files unlike on stand-alone machines.

5. Data is easy to backup as all the data is stored on the file server.

Disadvantages:

1. Purchasing the network cabling and file servers can be expensive.

2. Managing a large network is complicated, requires training and a network manager

usually needs to be employed.

3. If the file server breaks down the files on the file server become inaccessible. Email
might still work if it is on a separate server. The computers can still be used but are
isolated.

4. Viruses can spread to other computers throughout a computer network.

5. There is a danger of hacking, particularly with wide area networks. Security procedures
are needed to prevent such abuse, eg a firewall.

Give at least 5 advantages/disadvantages of CLOUD COMPUTING

Advantages:

1. Cost Savings
2. Speed of delivery
3. Immediate Upgrades
4. Collaboration
5. Flexibility

Disadvantages:

6. Disruption in Internet Service

7. Limited Features
8. Loss of Control
9. Security
10. Service Provider System Crash
