1. Give three other Major Scientific and technological developments in the world (Or
in the Philippines) that created a large impact on your daily life.
- The three major scientific and technological developments in the world that
created a large impact in my daily life are the mobile phones, food cooker,
vehicles. The mobile phones make it easy to interact with someone, no need to
send letters as long as there is a mobile phones. Food cooker makes it easy to us
to cook food, you don’t need to set a fire just to cook. And the vehicles makes it
easy to us to go to the places we want.
2. What historical antecedents gave rise to the inventions you mentioned in the first
question?
- Mobile phones were invented as early as the 1940s where engineers developed
cells for mobile phones base stations. The very first mobile phones were not really
mobile phones at all they were two way radios that allowed people like taxi
drivers and the emergency services to communicate.

3. How did the developments in science and technology shape human history?
- Development in the science and technology shaped human history in many ways.
It enabled us to share ideas much faster around the country and then around the
world. That started with the wheel which also allowed us to establish economies
with other places carting our oceans, exchanging supplies and ideas.

Part II. Standing on the Shoulder of the Giants

Instruction: Research for one great achievement during the different time period aside from
those discussed in this module. Afterwards, accomplish the following: Explain each of the
following questions below in 5-10 sentences. You may refer to the rubrics provided on how
your work will be graded.
1. Draw or print a picture of your chosen achievement. Collect or paste these
inventions in a clean and durable sheet of paper. Design your work according to the
theme appropriate to the assigned chosen period.
2. Explain in your own words how each invention works. Also identify their uses and
purpose.
-In the beginning, cosmetics served a practical purpose to protect the wearer from the
harsh rays of the sun. Malachite, one of the principal ingredients used in eye paints,
shielded the eyes by absorbing some of the sun’s rays, and the oil they mixed it with
would catch the dust from the desert. Another prominent ingredient in eye paints was
galena, which helped to prevent and treat eye diseases. Thus, a very popular combination
for eye makeup consisted of malachite used as a green eye shadow and galena to line the
eyes. It is not clear whether the ancient Egyptians were aware of the properties of their
ingredients, but it is known that they were experts in wet chemistry, often creating
mixtures that required complex procedures as long ago as 2000 BC.

3. How inventions impacted the people and the society during the time period when
they were made.
- One of the most important benefits is that the makeup contained lead salts, which,
when contacting the skin, caused the body to produce more nitric oxide. Nitric
oxide is known to fight off disease causing bacteria. Therefore, the Egyptians
were less likely to get diseases or infections.
