Chapter 4:
How do you find this chapter? What have you learnt from it? Write you summary not less
than 150 words.

The term employee behaviour, refers to the way in which employees respond to specific
circumstances or situations in the workplace. While many elements determine an
individual's behaviour in the workplace, employees are shaped by their culture and by the
organization's culture. Personal and corporate culture affects the way employees
communicate and interact with one another and with management. Additionally, an
employee's beliefs affect his or her ethics and sense of ethical responsibility. I understand
that personality has a direct impact on the behaviours of employees at work. People's
behaviours patterns can be broken into a big five personality Agreeableness,
Conscientiousness, Emotionality, Extraversion and Openness.
Furthermore I understand about matching people and jobs. Job matching is the science of
job fit. It Is a scientific approach to both matching and aligning people to jobs for maximum
performance and engagement. One of important topic in this chapter is Maslow’s Hierarchy
of needs model, that contain physiological needs, security needs, social needs, esteem
needs and self-actualization on the top. Job enrichment and job redesign also one of
important topic that i have learnt. Finally I learnt advantages and disadvantages of Modified
Schedules and Alternative Workplaces. In addition, Employees play a significant role in the
dynamics of a small business work environment. If you’re a productive employee with a
good attitude who exhibits professional behaviour, you can help the business to succeed
and further your career. If you have a poor disposition, are unconcerned about the success
of your employer, and you outwardly display hostility toward management, colleagues and
consumers, you can hurt the company and jeopardize your career.
