Nevertheless, the dealers are free to carry out installations based on this AV Guideline without
central support by a local provider. In order to ensure a proper supply of centrally generated and
always up-to-date content the connection to the centralized Content Management System (CMS)
is mandatory. For this purpose, the necessary Playout PCs and the associated services must be
ordered and installed by the Global System Integrator (GSI).
Independent Playout PC installations cannot be supported for security and contractual reasons and
cannot be connected to the central CMS.

Architectural integration
AV Design Strategy
What are the challenges for a well designed AV system in context of Destination Porsche?
In order to achieve the look and feel of Destination Porsche described in the architecture
guideline, the AV equipment has to be integrated into the architecture accordingly.
Therefore, coordination with other trades involved in the project requires top priority.

The following, but not limited to, aspects have to be considered:

• Architectural integration of all audiovisual equipment in context of technical, physical and
aesthetic requirements
• Coordinated with all trades to avoid collisions
• Regarding AV this applies most of the time to:
- Displays and LED-walls
- Speakers
- Table and wall connection panels
- Local control panels

Flush-mount integration in customer facing modules

In all modules in which the displays are customer-facing (directly or through a glass wall),
the displays and soundbars must be integrated flush with the surface.

The following points shall be considered when integrating displays flush with the surface:

• Displays shall be mounted to a push-out wall bracket for easy installation and
maintenance
• The cut-out in the millwork must be at least 2 cm larger than the dimensions of the
display (+ soundbar) for displays with a diagonal <75" and at least 5 cm for displays with
a diagonal >75" to obtain a shadow gap
• The shadow gap is essential for both the maintainability and the ventilation of the display
• Clearance within the millwork above the display and a top slot must allow dissipation of
waste heat
• The type of structural integration of cut-outs and ventilation requirements must be
designed and considered by interior fittings / millwork

In areas where no customer has access (i.e. internal meeting room), the display can also be
mounted on the wall.

010
Table connection panel
AV Design Strategy
Standardized table connection panels
Connections for third-party devices such as laptops, tablets, mobile phones shall be integrated in tables where desired.
The furniture supplier is to provide a flap inside the table tailored to a connection panel underneath the table.
All tables are either provided with 335 mm or 435 mm wide cut-out, both with an installation depth of 100 mm. The
wider cut-out is to be considered in tables of Fitting Lounge and Owner's Collection Hybrid only. Depending on the
use-case within the module, the following types have to be considered:

• Type 1: Tables without connection to a display

- 2× Power socket
- 1× 2-port USB-charger (2100 mA + 1000mA)
- 2× RJ-45 connection for LAN

• Type 2: Tables with connection to non-interactive display

- 2× Power socket Step 1: Architectural and interior concept
- 1× 2-port USB-charger (2100 mA + 1000mA)
- 2× RJ-45 connection for LAN The architects must provide the AV designer with number of tables which must be equipped with a type 1 table
- 1× HDMI connection panel and indicate them in the layout plan. The provision of the necessary infrastructure in floor boxes must
- Consideration of space for transmitter box for AV transmission below table: max. W220 × L240 × H40 mm be coordinated by the architect with the electrical consultant.

• Type 3: Tables in connection with a digital signage display with a UC soundbar or in connection with UHD / VR CC
- 2× Power socket
- 1× 2-port USB-charger (2100 mA + 1000mA) Step 2: AV Design and handover to furniture supplier
- 2× RJ-45 connection for LAN
- 1× HDMI Determination of all tables to be equipped with a type 2 or type 3 table connection panel in AV design.
- 1× USB 2.0 (for connection to interactive displays and UC-soundbar only) The AV designer provides the furniture supplier with information of required cut-outs for all types of table connection
- Consideration of space for transmitter box for AV transmission below table: max. W220 × L240 × H40 mm panels. The furniture supplier considers necessary cut-outs and flaps as well as cable routing in all tables. The provision
of the necessary infrastructure in floor boxes for the positions of the table connection panels type 2 or type 3 must be
coordinated by the AV designer with the electrical consultant.

Step 3: Ordering and implementation

Consideration of all table connection panels fittings in request for proposal of Global System Integrator for AV.
The Global System Integrator must integrate all connection panels in table cut-outs provided and connect them to the
infrastructure (floor boxes) and any required AV transmitter boxes.

011
Recommended centralized cabling approach
AV Design Strategy
Centralization and hub and spoke distribution Display in module
Consideration of a central Server Room with proper ventilation from which every AV-related module / area / display can
be reached within standard network line length limits.
All required AV cabling must be routed to this location.

In order to achieve a simple deployment and easy maintainability as well as to be flexible in regard to possible system
expansion, all hardware for playout, signal distribution and control shall be located centrally. Following, but not limited
to, hardware shall be integrated in the central Server Room:

• Digital Signage playout PCs

• Video distribution equipment
• Audio amplifier and sound processing equipment
• Control units and equipment to connect to third-party control systems
• Network switches for AV
• Additional AV equipment (i.e. TV-tuner, wireless microphone receivers)
AV receiver box
All wiring of inputs and outputs shall be carried out as hub and spoke distribution to enable strategy of centralization. behind display
The transmission and interconnection of AV signals (video, audio, control) from the modules into the Server Room and
back into the modules (hub and spoke distribution) shall take place via a matrix system which allows a transmission of
signals for video, audio, USB and control via one twisted pair cable (or fiber for greater distances).
In AV established technologies such as HDBaseT or streaming transmissions shall be used. Table connection panel in module

It is highly recommended to consider one central Server Room to locate all central AV equipment. However, the
maximum cable lengths of the signal transmission must be taken into account. If it is necessary to consider two Server
Rooms, these must be interconnected with fiber connection (min. 2× OM3 multimode fiber cable with 8 cores).

The bulk of the AV cabling shall be based on twisted pair cabling. The entire distance between the start and end points
of the twisted pair cable connection must be measured according to EN 50173 (or comparable standard) and at least
meet the CAT 6A standard.

It is strongly recommended to follow this approach because of the above mentioned advantages User device (i.e. laptop)

012
Decentralized cabling approach
AV Design Strategy
Playout PCs installed behind the displays Display in module
In order to minimize cabling and amount of AV transmitter boxes, the Playout PCs may be installed behind the screens
instead of a centralized Server Room. However, it is strongly recommended to follow the centralized approach as
described before, since following disadvantages must be taken into account when installing Playout PCs behind the
screens:

• Poorer maintainability: If a Playout PC defect cannot be solved remotely and on-site service is indispensable, the
service call must be made within the showroom. While the recommended centralized approach allows to route a
content stream from another Playout PC to the display, with the decentralized approach the display remains black
until the fault has been eliminated on-site.
• No interconnection: Due to decentralized integration, multiple interconnections are not possible. Thus, it is
mandatory to install one Playout PC for each touchpoint and the use of one device for several rooms (e.g. with several
Consultation Offices) is not possible
• Limitation of event capability: Compared to the old architecture, Destination Porsche with its AV strategy has great
cross-selling potential in form of multiple use of space and integrated components. With a decentralized approach
these potentials are strongly limited IT distribution Playout PC HDMI receiver box
• Loss of controllability: The AV transmitter boxes perform several tasks simultaneously. They not only transmit video behind display behind display
and audio signals from A to B, but also offer additional possibility of carrying out automated control functions (e.g.
real-time controlled switching on and off of display or switching of signal inputs, both also remotely) via single cable
connection. Due to the absence of these components, these functions are not available.
• No additional, central playout equipment: An uniform or targeted distribution of a central signals (e.g. TV tuner) is Table connection panel in module
not possible due to the decentralized approach

Even if the Playout PCs are integrated behind the displays, certain minimum requirements must be met to ensure the
general quality:

The Playout PCs must be ordered and installed by the Global System Integrator (GSI - Trison)
• The Playout PCs require an internet connection. It is mandatory that the connection between the Playout PC and the
IT infrastructure is a twisted pair cable connection (not wireless), which meets at least the CAT 6A standard.
• HDMI and USB signals of table connection panels must be transmitted with extenders (e.g. HDBaseT) via a twisted
pair cable from floor box to display. User device (i.e. laptop)
• The background sound system must continue to be run centrally: Loudspeaker cables must be wired from one IT
room and the necessary equipment for signal amplification and signal processing must be located in the same room

Due to multiple disadvantages with the decentralized approach it is strongly recommended to follow the centralized HDMI transmitter box
approach described on previous page. below table

Server Room
Overall Specification
The central Server Room is the heart of the AV system
According to the AV strategy and its spoke-hub concept, all AV signals converge in a central
Server Room.

All central AV equipment must be installed in 19" racks. The requirements for space and to
other involved trades depend on final scope of the AV equipment. The assumptions listed below
shall be covered for a central Server Room. Final requirements must be determined in design
process.

• Spatial requirements:
- Two independent 19" AV racks with a footprint of 80×80 cm and designed for
42 height units
- Equipped with removable wall parts and lockable glass door
- Free access from at least two sides

• HVAC requirements:
- Heat dissipation of equipment of up to 10 kW

• Electrical requirements:
- Approx. 6 kW power connection for each rack
- Grounding for each rack
- 5× Internet connection for each rack
- 1× Connection to third party control system(s) (i.e. KNX, DALI, BACnet)
- 1× Normally Closed contact (NC) of fire alarm contact to mute audio equipment in case of
an alarm
- 1× connection to TV distribution system (DVB/C2 or DVB/S2)

017
Simple control
Overall Specification
Stay in control of AV equipment in the dealership
Provision of a control device for overall system operation.

The complex structure of AV equipment requires a professional control system.

Efficiency can be increased through automation of standard functions and connection with
other control systems.

It is recommended to provide automated control where possible (i.e. automatic signal

switching via signal detection, automatic shutdown according to opening hours of dealership).
However, when applying the centralization strategy, higher-level control is significant in order
to operate AV-related functions and, if desired, third-party room control functions (i.e. lights,
shades) as well.

In order to provide the user with a control environment which is as simple and intuitive as
possible, it is necessary to program and illustrate control options on a wireless control device.
The device shall provide intelligent control with a simple graphical user interface, which is to be
programmed individually for each project.
As a minimum standard the wireless control device is used for operating event scenarios using
the Ambient Presenter and its connections in the Vehicle Exhibition and/or in the Universal
Module subtype Highlight (depending on indivdual setup) to switch from default digital
signage content to a local video connection, control of volume and wireless microphones. In
addition, the device is also used for the volume control of the individual background sound
channels. The wireless connection for this control device is enabled in the area of the Ambient
Presenters only. Nevertheless, all background sound channels can also be controlled at any time
via a centralized touch panel in the AV rack in the Server Room.

By request of the dealer and under consideration of extra costs, the reception area of the
wireless control device can be extended and other areas or control functions can be added.
However, it is recommended to separate simple control functions from more sophisticated
functions on the wireless control device. This allows volume settings by module, simple event
controls to be displayed in a generally accessible interface. Special functions such as matrix
settings, changes of automations, etc. should be hidden within a password-protected area of
the wireless control device.

The wireless control device requires a wireless LAN connection and can either be operated in
dealership wireless network using a separate, hidden SSID which is connected to AV control
network or within a wireless network through AV-provided access points.

The UHD / VR CC is a Porsche Car Configurator to be used at your Point of Experience in order to
enrich the customer journey or rather to simply continue your clients’ configuration where they left off
on the internet. The application can either be used with an UHD (touch)screen which lets you and your
customers interact intuitively with configurations or with the virtual reality option to immerse into an
even more emotional experience – both controlled with a tablet by the salesperson. The setup needs to
be connected to the AV system, therefore the following requirements need to be considered:

Structure of module design
Selection of module AV equipment
Based on the selection of modules within the dealership as defined in the
architectural concept, the dealer selects the desired audiovisual equipment for
each module on the basis of this guideline.

The determination of desired equipment is accompanied by an AV planning- Exemplary illustration of different module configurations
and consulting-process in order to select the equipment with regard to future
use-cases. Must-have Recommended High-end

The module equipment is divided into three categories

• Must-have
• Recommended
• High-end

The dealer chooses the equipment category module by module, however, it is

not mandatory to equip all modules in the same category, as the equipment
requirements in each module may be different towards the considered use-
cases. Nevertheless, at least the equipment listed in the Must-have section Backlit poster Videowall with speaker LED-wall with speaker
must be implemented.

If a Must-have option is selected which demands no AV components in a

customer-facing module, the module must be connected to the central
Server Room in accordance with the defined spoke-hub distribution and the
centralization strategy in order to enable subsequent signal connections.

The module must then be connected with the following cabling (each for
potential location for display and floor box):

2× Twisted pair from Server Room

4× Power socket
