1 Executive Summery
The Proposed Retailer/Office building will be situated at Gowlidoddi, Hyderabad. The
building consists of three basements for parking, ground floor and 11 upper floors with an
built-up are 34548 m2 (excluding basements). It consists of spaces such as office spaces,
Pantry, Toilets and Lifts.

2 Climate Analysis
2.1 Monthly Temperatures
As per the ECBC appendix E (Climate zone map of India), Hyderabad comes under
composite climate zone. The figure 1 represents Temperature range (Monthly High and Low)
with summer and winter comfort temperatures in all the months. It clearly indicates the
temperature is too high in the summers

4 ECBC Compliance
The code compliance procedure requires the new building to fulfil a set of mandatory
provisions in sections 4.2, 5.2, 6.2, 7.2 and 8.2. Also, Code compliance requirement
can be met by following one of the two methods.
Prescriptive method
Whole building performance (WBP)
Proposed building is following option 2 (Whole building performance) to show the
compliance.
Putting together all Energy Efficiency Measures for the proposed building
Design
Arriving at the proposed case energy consumption results
Arriving at the whole building energy reduction achieved of the proposed
case vis-à-vis ECBC case.
5 Building Envelope
5.1 Mandatory Requirements under ECBC
The mandatory provisions of ECBC are met in the building design stage such as:
U-Factor shall be certified by material manufacturer determined for vertical
fenestration in accordance with ISO-15099.
U-factors for external brick, roof assembly shall be determined from the default
tables in Appendix C11 or determined from data or procedures contained in the
ASHRAE.
SHGC and VLT of vertical fenestration certified by material manufacturer
determined in accordance with ISO-15099.
The sealing of building envelope is ensured using sealing, caulking, gasketing
and weather-stripping for envelope components like vertical fenestration, walls,
roof, doors, etc. as provided in section 4.2.2 of AP ECBC.

7. Lighting
Lighting alone accounts for almost 15% of the total energy consumption in India.
Lighting is an area that offers many energy efficiency opportunities in almost any
building facility, existing or new. Using efficient lighting equipment and controls is
the best way to ensure lighting energy efficiency while maintaining or even improving
lighting conditions. For a lighting designer, an energy efficient lighting design
involves careful integration of many requirements and considerations such as building
orientation, interior building layout, task illumination, daylight strategies, glazing
specification, choice of lighting controls, etc.
7.1 Lighting power density
The Building area method is used to ensure compliance with code.
