PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION 1

Philosophy of Education

As an educator, I have many beliefs about teaching, the roles of teachers and students,

and how children learn. These beliefs all make up my philosophy of education, which has been

shaped by my experiences and has a major impact on my teaching and goals as an educator.

Some of my major goals as a teacher include providing a quality education that meets all of my

students’ needs, creating a safe and nurturing classroom environment, and encouraging a love of

learning.

As a teacher, I believe that it is my role to provide a quality education to all students. It is

my goal to implement a variety of instructional techniques and practices that meet my students’

individual needs. During my experience teaching so far, I have implemented various teaching

and learning strategies in order to help make my instruction accessible to all students. In addition

to providing a quality education, I also believe that it is my role to be committed to a lifetime of

learning. As a teacher, I understand that I have a responsibility to be a lifelong learner. Because

of this, I want to always work towards growing and improving my own teaching through self

reflection and professional development. I also aim to share my love of learning with my

students in order to encourage them to become lifelong learners as well.

Along with being committed to providing a quality education and being a lifelong

learner, I also believe that it is my role as a teacher to make my classroom a safe, nurturing, and

accepting environment for my students. I believe that all children should be treated with love and

respect. Therefore, I strive to build positive relationships with my students in order to create a

welcoming classroom community that celebrates all students.

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION 2

In addition to my role as a teacher, I also believe that students share an important role and

responsibility in the classroom. While students are in school to learn, they should not simply

memorize information. Instead, I believe that students should be active participants in their

education. For instance, I try to engage my students in hands-on activities that help them apply

their knowledge to real life situations. I also encourage my students to ask questions and seek

answers in order to construct their own knowledge.

I believe that students enter the classroom with a wide variety of background knowledge

and experiences. As a teacher, I want to make sure that I implement instructional practices that

meet my students’ diverse needs. Not all students are the same, and therefore they do not learn in

the same ways. Therefore, I don’t think that there is a one size fits all approach to teaching.

Because not all students learn the same way or are at the same level of understanding, I believe

that it is extremely important for teachers to scaffold support and differentiate instruction to meet

the needs of all students. As a teacher, I differentiate the content, process, product and learning

environment of my lessons based on my students’ readiness levels, interests, and learning styles.

By differentiating instruction and providing modifications and accommodations, I am able to

better meet my students’ diverse needs and make learning accessible for all students.

As an elementary and special education teacher, I want to make sure that I do what is best

for my students. I believe that all children deserve a quality education where their individual

needs can be met. I must support and care for each one of my students in order to help them learn

and grow. I also want my classroom to be a safe and nurturing environment for students where

they can explore and learn through hands-on activities. Ultimately, my goal as a teacher is to

share my passion for learning and helping others in order to make a difference in children’s lives.
