BK3: #CopingWithCOVID-19

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is caused by a newly discovered coronavirus, an

infectious disease. Most people infected with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate
respiratory disease and will recover without special treatment being needed. Being well educated
about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes, and how it spreads, is the best way to avoid and
slow down transmission. When an infected person coughs or sneezes, the COVID-19 virus
spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose, so it is important that
you also follow respiratory etiquette. When the corona virus came to our country and started to
spread, many things were affected just like the education of each students, work of various
workers in our country and other special occasion for each and everyone. Due to the changes
brought by COVID-19 pandemic, my family and I have prepared important supplies such as
alcohol, face mask, face shield, foods and others for us to protect ourselves and to prevent
infection from the corona virus.
These are the things the we do to protect ourselves form corona virus disease. First is we
need to stay active, despite of having a hard lockdown here in Bulacan, we maintain our body for
us to be stronger and less likely to get infected. Second is we do diet and proper eating by
avoiding stress eating due to the stress related to COVID-19, instead of eating unhealthy foods
we always eat vegetables, fruits and other foods that can help us to be healthy. Third is having a
healthcare maintenance, we always take vitamins to boost our immune system and my parents
always take their maintenance to further strengthen their body. Fourth, we always stay connected
to each other and to our loved ones because it can help us to alleviate anxiety and instances of
feeling depressed by interacting with loved ones while we are in hard lockdown. Before the
COVID-19, our busy lives may have limited how much we communicate with distant loved
ones, now it is time to completely utilize these new fellowship and companionship capabilities.
And last is having a self care we always making sure that we are in good condition and we assure
that we have enough time for each other.
For individuals, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic can be traumatic. In
adults and adolescents, uncertainty and anxiety about a new disease and what could happen can
be daunting and trigger intense emotions. Public health actions can make individuals feel
alienated and alone, such as social distancing, and can increase stress and anxiety. However, to
decrease the spread of COVID-19, these acts are required. Because of that, these are the steps on
how I maintain my mental health. First, I always find distractions. Whenever I feel sad I just
open my laptop and watch movies and because of that if helps me to relax and enjoy. Second, I
always talk to my friends just so I can bond with them even If we don’t meet. And last, I always
give time to myself to realize a lot of things to have the motivation that I can overcome
everything what I am feeling right now. Because of these steps, it helps me to feel better and
learn to be positive on whatever problem I am going through.
