Chloramine

Chloramine T is an organic sodium salt derivative of toluene-4-sulfonamide with

a chloro substituent in place of an amino hydrogen. It has a role as an antifouling biocide, a
disinfectant and an allergen. It contains a chloro(p-tolylsulfonyl)azanide. White or slightly
yellow crystals or crystalline powder with slight odor of chlorine and a melting point of 170-
1770C

Soluble in water and Insoluble in benzene, chloroform, and ether; decomposed by alcohol

Uses:

Chloramine is used as a disinfectant to treat drinking water

Also used for disinfection of swimming pools

As a intermediate in organic synthesis

Chloramine T is a strong oxidizing agent

chloramine-T is used incorporate iodine into peptides and proteins. Chloramine-T together
with iodogen or lactoperoxidase is commonly used for labeling peptides and proteins
with radioiodine isotopes
DDT
Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, commonly known as DDT, is a colorless, tasteless, and
almost odorless crystalline chemical compound,

DDT was extensively used in agriculture as a pesticide

It was initially used with great effect to combat malaria, typhus, and the other insect-borne
human diseases

. It also was effective for insect control in crop and livestock production, institutions, homes,
and gardens.

BHC
Benzene hexachloride is an isomer of hexachlorocyclohexane with a chemical formula C 6H6Cl6. It
is also known as Lindane or hexachlorane. Benzene hexachloride is a colourless solid with a
slight musty odour.

 Benzene hexachloride is used as an insecticide on crops, in forestry, for seed treatment.

 It is used in the treatment of head and body lice(ectoparaciticide).
 It is used in pharmaceuticals.
 It is used to treat scabies.
 It is used in shampoo.
SACCHARIN:
saccharin is a colorless crystal or slightly white crystalline powder. It is odourless and
tastes sweet. It is 500 times more sweeter than sucrose.

1. Sodium saccharin can be used for food, such as cold drinks, beverages, jelly, popsicles,
pickles, cakes, preserved fruits, protein sugar, etc. It is used in the food industry and
sweet food making for diabetics. Sodium saccharin is a commonly used synthetic
sweetening agent.
2. Feed additives: pig feed, sweetener, etc.
3. Daily chemical industry: toothpaste, mouthwash, eyedrops, etc.
4. Electroplating industry. Electroplating sodium saccharin is mainly used in electroplating
nickel and is used as brightener. Adding a small amount of saccharin sodium can
improve the brightness and softness of nickel plating. The general use is 0.1–0.3 grams
sodium saccharin per liter of medicinal liquid.
