ACOUSTIC REQUIREMENTS
GOALS: Noise outside the environment, Sound inside the environment, HVAC
background noise, Sound masking
Internal pipes must not join the partitions. It is recommended that the
system be anchored exclusively to a framing/hangers.
Absorbent ceilings: always check the NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient).
SOME EXAMPLES: Ceramic blocks; concrete/cellular concrete blocks;
silica limestone blocks; Glass wool; rock wool; elastomeric foams;
coconut fiber; glass, etc.
SOUND ABSORPTION
REVERBERATION TIME The reverberation time depends on the volume of the
environment and the objects' absorption coefficient.
Hotel/motel:
- Individual room or suite < 0.6
- Meeting or banquet room < 0.8
Office building:
- Executive of private office < 0.6
- Conference room < 0.6
- Teleconference room < 0.6
- Open-plan office - no sound masking < 0.8
- Open-plan office with sound masking < 0.8
Courtroom:
- Unanplified speech < 0.7
- Amplified speech < 1.0
Laboratories:
- Testing or research with minimal speech communication < 1.0
- Extensive phone use and speech communication < 0.6
Classroom <0.6
THERMAL COMFORT
ANALYSIS CRITERIA: Dry bulb temperature, Mean, radiant temperature,
Relative humidity, Airspeed, Individual clothing insulation, Individual
metabolic rate
Compliance with ASHRAE 55, Compliance with either ISO 7730/2005 or CEN
15251/2007
Thermal zones for each 60m² of the area or at least for every ten
occupants. Each zone must have its thermal comfort control., Maintain the
relative humidity of the air between 30% to 60%.
