1. Language is a system of communication which consists of sounds or written symbols

used by the people for talking or writing. Language is arbitrary vocal symbol by means of
which people cooperate and interact. Language is an instrument used for human
communication and Language is medium of thought and feeling in social institution

Teaching is transfering knowledge, skills and value, and deleloping learners potentialities

Learning is psychological process in behavior change, verbally, intellectually and socially.

Language teaching is sometimes discussed in term of three related aspects:

approach, method and technique.

2. Psycholinguistics.

Psycholinguistics is very important for those who are interested in studying language, especially
for language teachers particularly for foreign language teachers, such as English or Arabic
teachers. It is important to give knowledge of Psycholinguistics to students of English Language
Program, because by understanding Psycholinguistics, they know well how to learn English as
foreign language or how foreign language should be acquired or earned.

Psycholinguistics will help foreign language teachers to prepare better teaching for their
students. It also helps to understand the difficulties in learning language skills, either
expressive skills or receprive skills. There are difficulties in learning foreign language,
because there are differences between native language and foreign languge.
Psycholinguistics will helps to explain the errors learners do in the process of their
learning The process is to change personal behavior, from not knowing to know, from
not being able to being able.

3. Semantics is the study of meaning of human language. A language is a system of

symbol which has meaning.The word Semantic is derived from Greek language,
semaino the meaning is to mean, to signify or symbol. The main function of a language
is communication, semantic uses the symbol for communication. For example : The
symbol of the thing, which is symbolized, as a convention among the language user. In
 linguistics the words and non-verbal language signify (symbolize), that is, “stand for”
other things.
