What is gambling: 

Definitions: Gambling is the practice of risking money or other stakes in a game or bet.

Benefits: Source of entertainment

o The loss of household or personal money;

o Anger and violence.

o Lies and deception.

o Neglect of family.

o Negatively affected relationships.

Psychological reasons:

o To win money.

o For socializing.

o To escape problems.

Problem gambling:

Definitions: A desire to consistently gamble despite adverse effects or a desire to stop.

Symptoms:
Behavioral symptoms:

o Stops doing things he or she previously enjoyed.

o Thinking about gambling all the time

o Having legal problems related to gambling

o Is often late for work or school.

o Neglects personal responsibilities.

Emotional symptoms:

o Withdraws from family and friends

o Has mood swings and sudden outbursts of anger

o Complains of boredom or restlessness

o Seems depressed or suicidal.

Financial symptoms:

o Frequently borrows money or asks for salary advances
