“Momo Challenge”

The Momo Challenge is a viral game shared on messaging services like

WhatsApp that goads young children into violence or even suicide. Images of the
devilish bird-lady supposedly pop up with creepy messages and commands that are
said to escalate to extreme violence and horror, Lore (2019).

We thought of this challenge as a fake news intended to cause panic because

there are actually no or not enough evidence that could set as proof of the connection of
this challenge to the several cases of deaths of some kids or even teen agers. Social
media news says that the challenge involves a number of kids and teens so we can say
that at these ages, they need enough guidance from parents and guardians. There are
also age guidelines in using social media (where the challenge is said to be posted) so
they don’t have the right to use these social media outlets all by themselves. It is best to
follow the guidelines, terms, and conditions given by these sites to avoid encountering
this video if ever it is true because there is still a possibility that this challenge could be
real (it could just have been deleted due to popularity). Even though it cannot really
cause suicide, it could still affect the mental health of kids and teen agers. Parents
should also find other ways to entertain their children like outdoor games to lessen the
use of social media or internet.

Having this kind of issue is inevitable to encounter especially in the modern days
so it is essential for us to critique properly if ever issues like this arise again. It is also
important to set safety precautions to avoid danger that this may cause in case it is a
legitimate one.
