Eccentric Locking Collar Installation
he eccentric locking collar is a
simple item, but possibly no other
retainer has generated so much
confusion and doubt in the
ser vice shop with technicians. Most
technicians have worked with this type of
locking collar because it is very common in
the turf industry as well as other industries.
However, Toro has found that even
experienced technicians have been turning
these collars the wrong way in the field. Which
way do you go? Are you turning the eccentric
locking the collar the right way? The answer
may surprise you.
The following instructions describe
installation of an eccentric locking collar on a
shaft against a bearing and pillow block.
Step 1.
Remove any burrs on the shaft with emery
cloth or a fine file. Wipe shaft with clean cloth.
Check shaft diameter.
Step 2.
Slide the bearing and housing on the shaft and
position it where the unit is to be secured.
