1. Presentation about Harmony in art history (still-life, portraits, designs, etc.)
2. Discuss the use of harmony in artworks.
3. Identify harmony in the artworks (color, line, shape, forms, etc.)
4. Create an illustration that has harmony. (digital)

Module 2: (Introduce, Describe, Demonstrate, Practice)
1. Presentation about Harmony in contemporary art (graphic design, installations, etc.)
2. Discuss use of harmony in these artworks.
3. Compare and contrast contemporary works with history works.
4. Using only 5 squares, create harmony. (digital)
Module 3: (Introduce, Describe, Demonstrate, Practice)
1. Presentation about Harmony and Unity (how they are different)
2. Discuss the difference between harmony and unity and why.
3. Identify artworks that have harmony, unity, or both. How do you know?
4. Using only one shape (5x) create one design that is unity and one design that is harmony.

Project: Design an Album Cover that has Harmony

1. Presentation of previous students’ work and examples of album covers that have harmony.
2. Have students watch demonstration.
 Using Illustrator, take students through the steps of creating an art board.
 Show them different tools to use.
 Explain that students can free-hand draw or use shapes to create a design.
 There are no limitations, except that the pieces has to primarily focus on harmony and be an album
cover for a musician they made up.
3. Ask if there are any questions – dismiss to start designing.
4. Check in with students as they work – ask questions about their designs.
5. Progress critiques so students can reflect and revise accordingly.
