Our mission statement

Seeking to improve
the world through
commitment of the
people by providing
necessary services
CHEP
▰ Founded in 1946
▰ World’s largest pallet
and container pooling
service.
▰ Prides itself on

recycling operation.
Problem

How can CHEP reduce the carbon footprint/emissions of

the various transportation legs controlled by CHEP,
associated with the movement of CHEP’s pallets?
Solution
Biofuel

Biodiesel Ethanol
Why Biofuel?
Biofuels …

… Puts less of the greenhouse gas such as carbon dioxide into

the atmosphere
… Are made out of organic substances which makes biofuel
biodegradable
… Are much more safer compared to fossil fuels in the sense of
finding fossil fuels
Where will the biofuel be applied?

In order to reach CHEP’s goal of wasting less carbon
emissions they need all their employees in on the mission.

has the capability to produce it).
Effectiveness
As of now, biofuels cost the same in the market as gasoline does. However, the
overall cost-benefit of using them is much higher. They are cleaner fuels, which
means they produce fewer emissions on burning. With the increased demand for
biofuels, they have the potential of becoming cheaper in the future as well.

According to the RFA (Renewable Fuels Association) February 2019 Ethanol Industry
Outlook report, “Ethanol remains the highest-octane, lowest-cost motor fuel on the
planet.” Additionally, in 2019, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) allocated $73 million
for 35 bioenergy research and development (R&D) projects.

With goals such as reducing drop-in biofuel costs, it aims to “enable high-value
products from biomass or waste resources” and reduction in the cost of producing
biopower. So, the use of biofuels will be less of a drain on the wallet.
“ When you empower people,
you’re not influencing them;
you’re influencing all the
people they influence.
