Re: Celeste DiLullo

To Whom It May Concern:
Please accept this letter of recommendation on behalf of Celeste and her application to teach English at
the middle or high school level. I have had the privilege to be Celeste’s Supervisor for her student
teaching with Sonoma State University through the 2020-21 school year. Celeste has greatly impressed
me and I recommend her wholeheartedly.
Celeste works on many levels as a veteran teacher, who has worked to hone their skills. In a year when
even the most seasoned veteran teachers are struggling, Celeste has been a shining star. Her lesson plans
are sure to impress anyone. While that’s important, her delivery and ability to engage the students in the
‘Zoom’ world is what shines! Her style will translate perfectly into the in-person world of teaching she
will undoubtedly find herself soon!
Celeste’s lessons build on past learning and careful scaffolding, while introducing new concepts and
learning objectives. Students are able to hone their new skills, getting feedback from Celeste and self-
assessment. Students see the small pieces of the lesson, and gain understanding how it fits into the bigger
picture of their learning objectives. Celeste utilizes examples and models so students can see the bigger
picture of their scaffolding.
Celeste maintains an upbeat tone with the students. They are drawn into participating by her non-
judgemental style. Equally important, Celeste gives students choice, which allows them to relate to their
own lives, experiences and culture. This is key in her classes rich in ELL and RFEP students.
Celeste utilizes technology to enhance the learning experience. The technology she uses works with her
lesson flow. Her lessons run seamlessly, and transitions are well thought out.
Celeste is very strong at self-reflection and is constantly working to improve her teaching skills and the
depth students learn. She is very open to coaching, but most of what her mentor teacher and I provide for
her is fine tuning. She utilizes data to drive supports and extension.
Any school who is lucky enough to have Celeste on their staff will have found a true gem, and your
students will be better off for it.

Please contact me if you need further information regarding Celeste and her qualifications.

Sincerely,

Jon Salinger
