1 MODULE 
1.1 CONTENTS 
This Test Project proposal consists of the following document/file: 

1. WSC2011_TP39_CH_M1_pre_EN 

1.2 INTRODUCTION 
The competition has a fixed start and finish time. You must decide how to best divide your time. 

1.3 DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND TASKS 
You and your friends decided to found a company called “lawcomp”. Your core business is to act in 
the law. As small start‐up business you have to save as much money as possible. Fortunately you 
bring a lot of IT experience with and you consent to assume the configuration of IT environment. The 
hardware machines are already setup by your assistant, so you have to just install the services. 

The webserver for your own webpage is setup by you. You also need remote access for your road 
warriors.

1.5 PART 1 
Work task Server 
Note: Please use the default configuration if you are not given the details. 

 Please configure the server with the settings specified in the Appendix 
 Ensure that all inside hosts can use this computer as internet gateway, using the outside 
interface IP address. 
 Install the services 
o Configure Active Directory 
 Create the Active Directory accounts with the information from appendix 
o DNS 
 Create an reverse zone for the inside IP range 
o DHCP Server  
 Range: 192.168.248.128 – 192.168.248.247 
 Gateway: 192.168.248.32 
 DNS: 192.168.248.32 
o Shared folders 
 Create a shared folder on device D: with the name “company”  
 Don’t allow access except user „notebook“ 
o VPN Service 
 Configure a IPSEC VPN gateway with pre shared key 
 Use “london2011” as pre shared key 
 Use the addresses 192.168.250.224 ‐> 192.168.250.255 for VPN users 
 Make sure that no other VPN connection except L2TP/IPSEC is allowed to the 
server 
o Printserver 
 Install print server and configure the printer use settings specified in the 
appendix 
o VMware 
 Install VMWare Workstation 
 Configure VM settings for the virtual Server 
 Create one harddisk 
 20 gb

Work task virtual Server 

 Set up the server with the operating system (Debian 6). Ensure that all components are 
correctly installed 
 Create one data partition(and one swap) on the system, use LVM 
 Please configure the server with the settings specified in the Appendix 
 Install the services 
o Webserver (Apache2) 
 Install Apache2 and make sure that php5 works also 
 Enable HTTPS and use self‐signed certificates, take care that FQDN matches 
 Create virtual webpages for the user listed in the appendix 
 Also configure DNS zones for V‐Webs in appendix on the windows server 
 On each webpage should be the domain name and the phpinfo output 
o FTP 
 Install ftp server 
 Create for each webpage an user which can access to the FTP server, more 
details showed in the appendix 
 Ensure that these users only have rights to their webserver directory 

1.6 PART 2 
Work Task Network 
Note: Please use the default configuration if you are not given the details. 

 Connect the LAN cables and configure IP addresses based on the appendix network diagram 
o Use port 1 for the Windows Server 
o Use port 2 for the Linux Server 
o The other ports are for client devices such as the notebook 
 Configure the  access point with the settings specified in the appendix 
o Use “london2011” as static WPA2 key 

1.7 PART 3 
Work Task Notebook 
Note: Please use the default configuration if you are not given the details. 

 Connect the Notebook to the wireless network 
 Join notebook into the domain 
 Configure on the desk for the user „notebook“ a VPN connection link 
 Make sure that every domain user that logs on has the share “company” mapped as network 
drive “z:” 
 Ensure that every user has connected the printer and can print out

2.2.1 INSTRUCTIONS TO THE COMPENTITOR 
 
 Do not bring any materials with you to the competition. 
 Mobile phones are not to be used. 
 Do not disclose any competition material / information to any person during each day’s 
competition. 
 Read the whole competition script prior to you starting work. 
 Be aware different tasks attract a percentage of the overall mark. Plan your time carefully.
