Educational

Our group suggests that Mr. M enrolls himself into anger management classes since he

has demonstrated in the past to have a short temper. Once there is no more tolerance, and his

patience has been exhausted, Mr. M utilizes brutal (physical force) against his wife and kids,

which has caused severe injuries such as; belt marks on the children's bodies, and Mr. M has also

beaten up his wife to the point where her face was covered in the blood even though Mr. M

wife's face was covered in blood he would not stop punching her this is why it is suggested that

Mr. M takes anger management classes.

Mental health or clinical treatment

Mr. M has severe problems with trusting his wife. Mrs. has not given any motives to

make Mr. M feel like she is not emotionally invested in their marriage or make Mr. M feel she is

having an affair with her Jamaican friend. Our group suggests that Mr. M visits a counselor or

therapist to help work out trust issues—implementing cognitive behavior therapy to challenge

past learned behavior and create a new way of reasoning (thinking), therefore, challenged and

change behavior.

Social support

Our group suggests that Mrs. gets involved with family members and creates a strong

bond so that if there are any issues with her Husband, Mr. M, she has strong support from her

family members, and they can help with the care and protection of the children. For example,

now that Mrs. needs to move out of her current home, if she had strong relationships with her

family, she could have moved with her family members rather than looking for an apartment for

herself and the children.

Group Recommendations
Immediate safety

Our group suggests that Mrs. M moves out of her current homes and finds temporary

housing since the children and herself are at risk of being hurt by her husband, Mr. M. If the

family cannot find temporary housing, is it suggested that the family changes the lock on the

current apartment, so the Mr. M does not have access to the apartment and does not walk in in

the middle of the night and attempt to hurt Mrs. and the children. It is also highly suggested that

Mrs. files a restraining order against Mr. M not to come close to the family and inflict harm.

Physical health

Our group suggests that Mrs. M and the children continue seeking medical treatment.

Due to Mrs. M’s perforated ear drum with nerve damage and some hearing loss she should

continue to get treatment and possibly attend rehab or receive a hearing aids to help with the

hearing loss. The children should also receive further medical treatment if they continue to

complain about the marks and bruises that Mr. M caused.

Safety

Our group suggests that Mrs. M keep all the important documents in a safe place as well

as pack a change of clothes for her and her children and some cash if she has to leave in a hurry.

Mrs. M should also find a safe place for her and her children to go to in case of an emergency

and confide in a trusted person about her location and situation. Mrs. M should also keep the

Order of Protection in place and come up with a safety word in case the police department needs

to be contacted.

Substance abuse

Our group suggests that since there is no report about any substance abuse involved, both

Mrs. M and Mr. M should be assessed for possible alcohol and drug abuse. As well receive

intervention/treatment to learn coping skills so there is no future alcohol or substance abuse.
