Normal, Ill. Sept 14,2020 - The Children’s Discovery Museum’s annual fundraiser “Doctors in
Concert” will now be taking place on Friday, September 18, 2020. The event will take place
virtually on the museum’s website, while the performances will be streamed live from the
museum. The event is raising funds for the development of the museum’s new exhibit-Healthy
Me!
The yearly event, will feature local physicians, showcasing their talents by playing classical and
contemporary melodies on piano, violin, cello, guitar or harmonica.
All the funds raised through the ticket sales and sponsorships will directly support the addition of
the new ‘Healthy Me!’ Exhibit in the museum. The exhibit will spread across 1,000 square feet
of the museum’s first floor. The exhibit will include a health clinic, a hospital setting and an
ambulance. The kids who will visit this exhibit, will get to explore the different areas of
medicine, and they will get a chance to role play.
“We are so proud of our local doctors who kept their commitment to the Museum despite the
unusual circumstances,” said Elise Albers, Event Chair, OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of
Illinois “We know a virtual event isn’t exactly the same as an in-person concert, but I assure you
the need is very much the same and the outcomes are no less important.”
The annual fundraising event was initially scheduled for April 3, but due to the pandemic it had
to be postponed.
Apart from the musical performances, the museum also has plans to hold a silent auction and
similar donor opportunities to help support the new Healthy Me! Exhibit. The viewing passes
can be bought through the museum’s website. To learn more about Children’s Discovery
