Iago's character Ans; Humen are born with natural capacity for good and evil.As an individual develops he or she is taught to distinguish between these two senses. And in Shakespeare's this play we are introduced to meticulous foxy, sharp intelligent character "iago" who can't distinguish b/w evil or good specially due to his excessive self-love and is a collection of unsolved puzzles. His role in this paly is, as a villain,due to his jealousy against protagonist "Othello".As iago is affiliated with military field and due to his loyal and witty service he expects his promotion as letiunent, but Moor promotes "Cassio" at that rank rather than him, so he got furious and starts to dislike Moor, as we can see in opening scene of this paly, In following him, I follow but myself, ………… I'm not what I'm. He acts like true hypocrtic villain of pretending of care and honour for Moor, but in reality is jeloused by his happy marital life mainly due to racial discrimination and decides to get revenge of being ignored. I hate the Moor, My cause is haterd. Moreover, although he is enough witty in his service, but he always thinks a woman as negative aspect of being disloyal even about his wife "Emilia",as he expresses his views while talking with "Desdemona", Come on come on, u r pictures outdoor, Bell in ur parlors….. Housewives in ur beds. His cunning and jeloused nature about Othello can also be seen when he believes having his adultery affair with his own wife, …. It is thought abroad that twxit my sheet, he has done my office. He plotted such incidents very cleaverly to take his revenge showing himself a sincere man that everyone gave him title of "honest man", which shows his too much confidence, self-love about his abilities to manipulate others, as he says about himself, I know my price, I'm worth no worse a place. His selfishness also be seen when in his solliluqy, he asks about Rodrigo that, he would not spend his time with him, But for my sport and profit. And atlast he succeeded to destroy "Othello's marital happy life by playing with all character's emotions with his cunning plans, as at the end of play, Othello kills her inocnet wife due to misunderstanding of her adultery with cassio. Conclusion; Iago is most complex villain among Shakespeare villains because his contradictory opinions about characters shows him an unsolved riddle. And his vicious actions suggest that he was doing evil for its own sake. *~~~~~~~~~~~*
