as the best occupation they could because they believe that it is sufficient for them to maintain their family and
lead a suitable life.Through the study we have been able to study full historical backgrounds of MILMA in
Trivandrum which is now a broad based developed network. The ongoing projects of MILMA provides great
scope in the area of the export sector of India and results in both economic and social development. They have
provided the turnover rate and awards gained by MILMA in the area of production .Thus the study had helped
to understand the role played by MILMA in the area of milk production.

V. CONCLUSION
Smart milk by MILMA’s demand is high among elderly people and health conscious people as the fat content is
low when compared to other variants of MILMA milk. This project is based on Kerala cooperative milk
marketing federation(MILMA) and the demand and supply of MILMA by Thiruvananthapuram regional
cooperative unit(TRCMPU). As on date there are 13 processing plants with a combined processing capacity of
12.50 litres per day with further expansion envisaged and 8 milk chilling plants scattered across the state. Kerala
cooperative milk marketing federation is testimony to the success of cooperative development in the hands of
people itself. Recently MILMA(TRCMPU) has decided to bring smart milk into the market in new appearance.
The milk sales of the union have registered a 3% growth during 2016-17 as compared to 2015-16. To strengthen
the distribution network, numbers of new agencies and numbers of redistributors have been appointed. The first
marketing hub of TRCMPU was opened at kandala, kattakada and the second hub will commence operation
Shortly at Mannar. It is proposed to have 5 more hub this year in the operation area of TRCMPU limited. Thus
this study provides and explain the role played by MILMA in the area of milk production.
