Welcome to the English 1 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module 23 on
Family, One’s Pets, and Personal Experiences.
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by
educators both from public institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in
helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while
overcoming their personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to
help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

What is It
To talk about one’s personal experiences is to retell to others
what events happened in your life. These happenings, events or
activities you have done are called experiences.

Experiences give us lessons in life. Every day, we encounter


many experiences and these help us improve our character trait,
behavior and attitude.

You can tell all your everyday experiences with your family,
your favorite pets and with your own personal experience at home, in
school and everywhere.

A. About Family
When you talk about your family you share about basic
information. Take a look at the example below.

I am Lila D. Cruz. I have two brothers and one sister. My


mother is Joan D. Cruz and my father is Juan D. Cruz. We live
in Poblacion 1, Oroquieta City. Our family goes to the beach
every Sunday.

As you can see in the sample, the basic information shared by Lila
about her family are:
 Her siblings
- She has two brothers and one sister
 Her parents

B. About Pet or pets


When you talk about your pet or pets, remember to share about:
 the name of your pet
 animal type
 favorite food of your pet
 the things that your pet like to do

Example:
I am Lila D. Cruz. I have a pet name Kitty.
She is a cat. Her favorite food is fish. She likes
to sleep all day

C. About your personal experiences
When you share about your personal experiences, these are the
basic information that you should include in your sharing:

 people involved

 the time or date
 How do you feel about your experience

Example:

During my 6th birthday, my family and


friends attended my party. It was held at a resort
last week. It was the happiest birthday so far.

From the sample, we could tell that the event was about the 6th
Birthday; family and friends are the persons involved; at a resort is
the place where it happened; last week was the time; and happiest
is the emotion felt by the sharer.
