COMMUNICATIONS MAINTENANCE/TEST FACILITIES 17/18
17/18 MENU
When you work on aircraft, make sure that you obey all the AMM safety
procedures.
This will prevent injury to persons and/or damage to aircraft. Here is an
overview of main safety precautions relative to the communications system.
Make sure that all circuits in maintenance are isolated before you apply
electrical power to the aircraft. Unwanted electrical power can be dangerous.
When you do an operational test of the audio management system obey the
radio regulations and make sure that the frequency is available before you
transmit.
Make sure that the ground safety devices and warning notices are in position.
Make sure that the side stick assembly stays in the vertical position during the
maintenance procedures.
Use solvents/cleaning agents, sealants and other special materials only with a
good supply of air and obey the manufacturers instructions.

Various cabin systems are controlled, tested and monitored by the Cabin
Intercommunication Data System (CIDS).
The CIDS is composed of two directors, one in active mode, and one in hot
standby. It is linked to the Forward Attendant Panel (FAP) to control the cabin
functions.
The director communicates through Decoder Encoder Units (DEUs) with the
cabin, passengers and crew systems.
The Programming and Test Panel (PTP) is used to program and test the CIDS.

through the CFDIU.
When you work on aircraft, make sure that you obey all the AMM safety
procedures.
This will prevent injury to persons and/or damage to aircraft. Here is an
overview of main safety precautions relative to the CIDS system.
Make sure that all circuits in maintenance are isolated before you apply
electrical power to the aircraft. Unwanted electrical power can be dangerous.
Note: You must be careful when you open the panels 2000VU or 2001VU as
these are in a high voltage area.
Make sure that the warning notices are in position.
When you finish the work make sure that the work area is clean and clear of
tools and other items.
Do not touch the lamp glass with your fingers. The oil from your skin will
quickly cause deterioration of the lamp. If you accidentally touch the lamp
glass, clean it with a lint-free cloth.
