INTRODUCTION

K
eeping in mind the current needs of both the instructors and the students, there

comes a need of biometric attendance sheet generator. This device is similar to

biometric attendance control device. It is design to facilitate both the Instructors as

well as students. All the students can monitor their attendance themselves to judge whether

they are eligible to sit in the Final exams as there is particular percentage of attendance

required to sit in the exams. In the same way, Instructors will not have to take attendance on

sheets of paper and there is also no need call out names of students and waste 10 minutes of

class having total time of 50 minutes. Instructors can know who actually is in class and who is

not as it requires thumb impression or facial expression to be recognized in order to qualify for

the attendance. So the presence of the student is mandatory and the chances of proxies will be

minimized. Instructors can email the generated report from the device through their account by

the end of the class so there is no danger of loss of documents related to attendance of

students.

DISCUSSION

When we talk about the New Product Development we should have to keep in mind

combination of features that are used to evaluate the product. Before making a new product

the marketing people collect the actual needs and wants of the costumers that are the end

users of that product and that product is actually design to satisfy their demand. The idea for

making an automatic attendance sheet generator was developed by keeping in mind the actual

need of the instructors as well as the students. Instructor is the main beneficiary of this device
as he will just have to sign into the device for the class he is going to teach and all he has to do

is to get it through email or via USB port. There is no need of taking attendance on the sheet of

paper and also not need to waste 10 minutes of the class. The data of students will be directly

collected from database software, and the students will be automatically registered according

to the class list taken from that data base software. Students will be allowed to sign in when

they get in the class with the help of face scanner. The device will note the time of sign in. By

the end of every class instructors will be able to get the report via email or they can also take it

via USB port in it.

The product features will be as follows:-

Product Category: Electronics

Product Name: Biometric Attendance sheet generator

CONCLUSION

This new product will be a combination of five basic steps. These include concept, ideation,

design, test and release. For example in this new product the concept step sets the basic

direction and boundaries for the development process. This clarified the type of product to be

made, the problems that the new product solved like wastage of time and minimizing the

number of proxies. Ideation stage there is brainstorm involved to discover some of many ways

to solve the problem like choosing this device to solve the problem that was wastage of time

and over the problem that is to danger of misplacing of sheets. Then the next stage which is

design depends on the manufacturer that how smoothly this product could be able to solve the

problems. After being designed there is test involved in this process and after the successful

test the product will be released.

This product has a number of customers. Its primary market is going to be universities and

schools.

This product will cost more when for the first time it will be manufactured as there will be a

number technologies involved for its manufacturing, but after its manufacturing there will be

tendency to decrease the actual price by further refinement.
